Manage and oversee the day-to-day operations of an investigation team focused on the accurate and timely completion of all investigative matters in accordance with company policy. Conduct investigations when needed. Ensure investigations are prompt, accurate and complete. Develop strategies to identify areas of increased activity and recommend mitigating controls.

Responsibilities

Core Responsibilities
  • Manage a team of investigators ensuring accurate completion of all investigations in accordance with company policy.
  • Conduct timely, thorough, accurate investigations of allegations of employee misconduct assigned to Human Resources.
  • As a result of a completed investigation recommend new or revised procedures, practices or controls.
  • Prepare detailed well written investigative reports documenting facts and circumstances related to reported allegations.
  • Assign cases and direct investigators in how to conduct investigations.
  • Partner with other investigative organizations within the company on matters of mutual interest.
  • Complete relevant investigations courses and incorporate best practices into the process.
  • Participate in case review and strategy sessions; make recommendations concerning on-going investigations; assist in evaluating cases; and conduct presentations as needed.
  • Perform a self-assessment of the investigations process, summarize findings, identify risk, and provide recommendations.
  • Manage the surveillance process to include ongoing assessments, vendor oversight, and contract renewals.
  • May perform other related assignments as required.

Qualifications

Required Education/Experience
  • Juris Doctorate and 10 years: investigations, labor arbitration, and employment law.
Relevant Work Experience
  • Must have experience with union collective bargaining agreements, Required.
  • Must have experience drafting final report of investigation, Required.
  • Must have experience conducting workplace investigations, Required.
  • Must have experience drafting final report of investigation,Required.
  • Experience in interviewing techniques and report writing, Required.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite (e.g. Excel, Word, PowerPoint), Required.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, Required.
  • Must have authored at least 20 investigative reports, Required.
  • Must have experience supervising employees, Preferred.
  • 10 years overseeing investigators or attorneys performing workplace investigations for employers, Preferred.
Licenses and Certifications
  • Driver's License Required
  • Other: NYS Bar Admission Preferred
Physical Demands
  • Ability to push, pull, and lift up to 25 pounds
  • Ability to push, pull, and lift up to 40 pounds
  • Sit or stand to answer a phone for the duration of the workday
  • Sit or stand to use a keyboard, mouse, and computer for the duration of the workday
  • Stand to use/operate office equipment for the duration of the workday
  • Ability to read small print and symbols
  • Work rotating shifts, including nights, midnights, weekends and holidays
Additional Physical Demands
  • The selected candidate will be assigned a System Emergency Assignment (i.e., an emergency response role) and will be expected to work non-business hours during emergencies, which may include nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must be able to respond to Company emergencies by performing a System Emergency Assignment to restore service to our customers. This can occasionally require an in-person presence of 12 hours a day, seven days a week, until the restoration assignment is concluded.
  • Must be able to commute to and work out of any company location in NYC, Westchester County, Orange County, and Rockland County, to conduct in-person interviews up to five days a week.
