Position Description

Manages and directs the day-to-day operations of a research center/institute or medium-sized department. Plans, coordinates and supervises the operation and activities of the center/institute/department. Develops and implements policies and procedures, administers the budget, organizes tasks and sets priorities.

Major/Essential Functions

  • Oversees the nursing functions of a health facility, including direct and indirect supervision of a 24-hour, 7-day a week health system.
  • Coordinates medical providers’ schedule availability and medical services operations to ensure patients’ access-to-care is timely and appropriate.
  • Coordinates dental providers’ schedule availability and medical services operations to ensure patients’ access-to-care is timely and appropriate.
  • Coordinates with mental health providers to ensure access to psychiatry services and mental health counseling services are timely and appropriate.
  • Establishes and manages care coordination efforts for referrals to specialty care and hospital care. Works with network providers to create mutually beneficial care pathways enhancing patients’ access to care.
  • Is fully responsible for the administrative and operational activities in the health facility, including fiscal responsibility, staffing, and ensuring adherence to legal, regulatory, and university requirements.
  • Works with university departments to establish and manage health quality and compliance practices to ensure high quality patient care, compliance to all relevant laws, regulations, and policies.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience leading multi-disciplinary healthcare facility including nursing care, primary care, dental care, and specialty care coordination.
  • Experience using clinical and business information systems for decision support in clinical, operational, and strategic operations.
  • Experience in organizational leadership, building strong teams, and establishing productive workflows; experience demonstrating successful strategies for integrating and overseeing teams with diverse professional backgrounds and from different disciplines.
  • Nursing degree and Master’s degree in business, health administration, or nursing administration preferred.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree plus six years of progressively responsible management experience OR a combination of education and/or years of experience in management to equal a minimum of 10 years.
