About the job:
Kent is looking for Instrumentation Commissioning Technicians to be based in Port Arthur, TX.
Responsibilities:
- Report to the discipline commissioning lead for planning and execution management support.
- Carry out I&E commissioning execution work as directed.
- Communicate with the Commissioning I&E lead for technical support.
- Perform instrument field tasks within requirements of project permitting, isolations, zero energy states and full compliance with CSU and Area Prime Safe Working practices, methods and processes including JSA’s / FLRA’s / Toolbox talks etc.
- Create RFIs first-line content in the manner of a technical field question.
- Accept and/or sign onto permits, JSA, FLRA’s, toolbox talks as a front-line user.
- Perform field verification of punch list completion and sign off in systems completion database as required.
- Complete commissioning B check sheets in a technical and legible manner.
- Carry out daily instrument commissioning work: loop checking, instrument repair, instrument field support for project activities (e.g., leak testing), interlock testing, logic testing, C&E testing, dynamic equipment runs.
- Escort and provide instrument field support for commissioning vendors as required.
- Perform other ad-hoc tasks as needed within reasonable scope of role.
Knowledge/Skills, Education & Experience:
- Technician certified; preferably college technical certificate and 5+ years transferable Project/Engineering/Commissioning experience.
- Proven frontline Commissioning, Start-Up, and initial operations experience.
- Hands-on knowledge of instrument test equipment (e.g., HART communicator, Fluke multimeters, wobulators, Druck pressure simulator).
- Ability to complete field instrument redlines on loop diagrams, data sheets, wiring diagrams, etc., in a technical and legible manner.
- Solid working knowledge of process plant instrumentation and test equipment.
- Working knowledge of fire & gas devices; E-house commissioning incl. transformers, MCC, switchgear, UPS.
- Hands-on DCS and PLC knowledge at a loop-check level.
Communication:
- Excellent English (written & verbal).
