MAJOR FUNCTION: 

The HIM Coordinator, Chart Completion assists the manager in the daily operations that pertain to medical record documentation completion and health provider deficiency status, including but not limited to: Generating provider deficiency reports, communicating with providers for timely chart completion, distributing and posting delinquency lists, and alerting ancillary areas of changes in provider privileges. The HIM Coordinator generates system reports that aid in HIM department operations, including but not limited to maintaining statistics for production and quality measures. The HIM coordinator onboards and trains new employees. The HIM Coordinator performs coordinator duties at every HIM department across Inspira Health as scheduled. 

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education & Experience:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in health-related field preferred.
  • Minimum three years of acute care and/or ambulatory setting experience.
  • Previous experience with record management, electronic MPI, HIE, patient registration and billing, and clinical system processes preferred.
  • Experience with Cerner PowerChart, Cerner PDA, and/or Bayscribe Transcription software preferred.
  • Experience in Soarian Financials preferred.
  • Experience with desktop document scanner preferred.

Certification/Licensure: 

  • N/A

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Knowledge of policy and procedure development.
  • Knowledge of handling external and internal audits of medical records by various agencies.
  • Ability to: 
    • Organize, prioritize, and assign work.
    • Work effectively with rapidly changing priorities.
    • Articulate problems and offer solutions to resolve them.
    • Make decisions in the absence of a supervisor or manager.
    • Analyze data, problem solve, implement solutions to problems correctly, and write procedures for a variety of computer-based tasks.
    • Work independently or in a team setting.
  • Strong knowledge of Health Information Management functions.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills with all levels of staff.
  • Excellent customer service, analytical, problem solving, organizational, and presentation skills.
  • Detail oriented.  Proficient computer skills.  Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Knowledge of Department of Health and/or DNV medical record requirements preferred.
