POSITION SUMMARY
ActivateWork is seeking a Career Development Coach to join our Learner Success team. This hybrid role blends coaching, instruction, and cohort management to ensure learners succeed both during training and in their job search post-graduation. Career Development Coaches are responsible for delivering professional development curriculum, managing the learner experience throughout each cohort, and providing one-on-one and group coaching support post-program.
Each Career Development Coach owns a cohort’s experience from start to finish, coordinating the schedule and classroom experience in collaboration with other Career Development Coaches and technical instructors. The role is critical to ensuring learners are job-ready and that we meet our key outcomes, including:
- 85% graduation and certification rates (aligned with Per Scholas benchmarks)
- 80% job attainment within 12 months of graduation
This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about workforce development, skilled in facilitation and coaching, and energized by helping individuals achieve life-changing career outcomes.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Instruction & Curriculum Delivery (25%)
- Facilitate engaging classroom sessions on key professional and durable skills, including communication, time management, growth mindset, and workplace readiness.
- Deliver lessons in alignment with ActivateWork’s instructional calendar and curriculum.
- Collaborate with peer coaches to divide and schedule lesson delivery across the 14-week curriculum cycle.
- Co-develop lesson plans and contribute to curriculum iteration based on learner needs, employer and team feedback, and broader industry trends.
- Support learners needing additional instructional or coaching support through 1:1 or small group follow-up.
Cohort Management (20%)
- Serve as the main point of contact for an assigned cohort during the training program.
- Coordinate scheduling of instruction and classroom activities with other coaches, ActivateWork team members, and external guests.
- Track and follow up on learner attendance, classroom engagement, and adherence to program policies.
- Coordinate and support in-cycle activities such as mock interviews, employer panels, networking events, and community-building moments.
- Manage learner communication, including classroom announcements, weekly updates, and ongoing engagement strategies as required.
Career Coaching & Alumni Support (55%)
- Maintain supportive, strengths-based relationships with learners, beginning during training and extending up to 12 months post-graduation.
- Guide learners through resume development, interview preparation, job search strategies, and employer engagement.
- Conduct regular check-ins and job search coaching sessions post-graduation.
- Document learner progress and interactions in Salesforce and other internal systems.
- Track and report on learner job attainment, employment milestones, and retention metrics.
- Support the alumni program through event participation, job search intensives, and community connection opportunities.
DESIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience in coaching, adult education, or workforce development.
- 3+ years of experience in career coaching, adult instruction, workforce development, or related field.
- Experience facilitating adult learning in group or classroom settings, preferably focused on career readiness or durable skills.
- Understanding of trauma-informed coaching, growth mindset, and motivational interviewing practices is highly desirable.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- Organized, proactive, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Comfort with tools such as Salesforce, Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and learning management systems (LMS).
- Commitment to ActivateWork’s mission of increasing economic mobility through access to high-quality training and employment pathways.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
- Salary range (Colorado pay transparency): $73,000–$78,000 annually.
- ActivateWork does not offer a group medical plan; instead, we provide an employer-funded HRA that reimburses employees (tax-free) for individual health insurance premiums and eligible medical expenses, giving you the flexibility to choose the plan that fits your needs.
