PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Sanitation Supervisor will ensure proper function of the Sanitation Department including all activities related to the current rules and standards, process controls, regulatory, Food Safety and sanitation. The Sanitation Supervisor will be responsible for providing regular, direct and “on the floor” leadership and direction to the employees responsible for implementation of our food quality and safety programs, along with supervision of the Sanitation Department team and assuring an effective and strong audit function. The Sanitation Supervisor will also collaborate with other departments to identify, solve, and prevent problems. 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee all activities necessary for the cleaning and sanitizing of production, packaging, storage areas, and production equipment on a daily basis in manufacturing facility and ensuring that all duties are performed in accordance with USDA (U.S. Department of Ag), SSOP (Standard Sanitation Operating Procedures), HACCP (Hazardous Analysis Critical Control Points), FDA (Food & Drug Administration), GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices), all safety policies and procedures and any other established policies and requirements necessary. 
  • Ensure master sanitation cleaning schedule is followed and audited to ensure proper completion. 
  • Confers with multiple production departments to schedule sanitizing and cleaning assignments responding to reports of sanitation problems and USDA and FDA issues. 
  • Investigates ways to reduce downtime and improve equipment and employee utilization in our continuous efforts to improve processes utilized; presents proposals to Manager for review and approval. 
  • Manage, lead, and the supervision of sanitation employees. 
  • Conducts performance appraisals and administer disciplinary and termination action when necessary. 
  • Responsible for the effective utilization of employee skills development, housekeeping, safety, utilization of required PPE (Personal Protective Equipment), policy administration, employee relations, scheduling cost control, and coordination of all sanitation activities with crew in facilities. 
  • Monitors outside contractors that may be involved in performing duties that assist in completion of sanitation objectives, installation of new equipment, etc.
  • Responsible for meeting budget cost constraints and cost reduction goals and objectives of the department. Recommends changes to procedure and purchase of equipment that will assist in meeting objectives. 
  • Communicates thoroughly with the prior and oncoming shifts regarding personnel problems, unfinished task workload, special requests or requirements, crewing shortages, schedule changes or any situation requiring attention.
  • Responsible for maintaining good, open communication channels with all departments. Works together with other departments to assist in achievement of primary plant goals and objectives. 
  • Performs sanitation audits (sectors, post evaluations) and analyzes sanitation problems/deficiencies relative to the plant and/or equipment. Initiates proper course of corrective action to rectify and reduce future occurrences. 
  • Assesses/coaches employee performance and expectations. Conducts and processes probationary/regular employee performance reviews on a timely basis. This includes working with Supervisor in properly communicating information on policies and procedures to work group. 
  • Organize and control the sanitation activities for the assigned areas within plant guidelines. Effectively control cleaning schedules and costs within budget parameters. 
  • Responsible to conduct yourself and ensure your subordinates (if applicable) conduct themselves in a manner consistent with company mission, values, code of ethics, policies, and other standards of conduct.
  • Uses Plant’s digital production system to track and trend performance and improvement projects
  • Participates in operational reviews as required, and works cross functionally to solve problems and improve process plantwide

 

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in supervision / management level responsibility (Food Industry, Consumer Products, or Dairy preferred)
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in Continuous Improvement Environment (Lean Manufacturing or TPM preferred)
  • Bachelor's degree (Engineering, Business Management, Food Science, or Org. Leadership/Supervision preferred)

 

SKILLS/EXPERIENCE DESIRED:

Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills as well as time management and presentation skills

  • Track record of being self-directed and highly motivated
  • Demonstrated leadership skills in fast paced culture
  • Flexibility and adaptability to changes in schedule
  • Demonstrated ability to implement and execute KPI's and best practices across the production department and among departments
  • Manage to established guidelines for SOP's in Process, Safety, Quality and Sanitation teams
  • Ability to think and communicate strategically and conceptually at all levels of the organization
  • Must possess high energy level and ability to achieve results through motivating others
  • Computer literate - Microsoft Office knowledge
  • This is primarily a third shift position.  The ability to work nights, weekend, holidays is essential for success.
  • Ability to communicate in Spanish is preferred
