Bandera ISD is searching for a knowledgeable, dedicated, and friendly team player to join the BISD Business Office as a Payroll Clerk.

Job Title: Payroll Coordinator

Reports to: Assistant Superintendent: Human Resource/Personnel Matters
Days: 200
Compensation: Hourly/Non-Exempt, Commensurate with Experience
Benefits: District contributes $350.00 monthly towards employee's TRS Health Insurance coverage

Education/Certification:
• High School Diploma or GED

Preferred Special Knowledge/Skills:
• Knowledge of basic payroll and accounting procedures
• Ability to use personal computer and software to develop spreadsheets, databases and word processing- (Including Microsoft & Google Suite products) 
• Ability to communicate effectively
• Maintain strict confidentiality as per FERPA

Experience:
• One year school payroll/employee compensation, or similar support experience

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

• Maintaining payroll information by collating, calculating and entering employee compensation data

• Updating payroll records by entering any changes to employee information or benefits such as job title changes, exemptions and employee deductions

• Preparing reports that include summaries of earnings, tax deductions, leave, employee leave and wages

• Calculating payroll by determining employee taxes, including federal and state income and social security tax, and calculating employer’s payments for social security, unemployment and worker’s compensation

• Resolving payroll discrepancies and answering any employee payroll queries

• Maintaining all payroll operations according to company policies and procedures

• Processing and issuing W-2 forms to employees

• Additional/Other Duties as Assigned

• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local labor and wage laws, including minimum wage, overtime, and worker compensation programs.

• Process payroll, including calculating wages, deductions, bonuses, and taxes, and issuing payments via direct deposit.

• Review and analyze data for accuracy based on guidelines set by the college and legal mandates, including rates of pay, benefit information, retirement status, time submission, overtime, leave reporting, hourly pay, and overload pay.

• Oversee accurate payments to the Employee Retirement System of Texas (ERS) for benefits administration and to all retirement vendors.

• Reconcile and audit payroll accounts, investigate and report irregularities, and maintain meticulous records of work hours, wages, deductions, and other relevant information.

• Manage General Ledger and Journal Entry processing, record keeping, and reporting.

• Review and approve Teachers Retirement System of Texas (TRS) payment processing and reporting, analyzing employees’ work schedules to determine TRS eligibility.

• Manage annual reporting, including Workers Compensation Audit, External Audit support, Census Bureau Report, Annual Optional Retirement Program (ORP) Estimate, Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB) annual submission summary, and TASB Workers Compensation and Unemployment reporting.

• Address employee questions and concerns regarding pay.

Data Entry

• Input payroll data into Ascender (District Information System) & Frontline Application Program.
   

Records and Reports
       • Keep records accurate and up to date
       • Provide Chief Officers with accurate/up-to-date reports as needed
