JOB SUMMARY: |
The County Board - Special Events Manager is a key member of the Resource Development team, reporting to the Senior Director, Regional Development, and working collaboratively with the Development/Operations Manager to lead the strategic development, execution, and optimization of a robust portfolio of fundraising events across nine counties. This role is pivotal in driving revenue, deepening community engagement, and elevating the visibility of BGCMA’s mission to ignite the unlimited potential in kids and teens.
The County Board - Special Events Manager will serve as the primary architect and project manager of approximately eleven (11) county-based fundraising events annually, while also providing high-level support for two signature events: Rebel Women and Youth of the Year. This position requires a self-starter with strategic foresight and collaborative leadership, working closely with county board leaders, committees, vendors, and internal stakeholders to deliver exceptional event experiences that meet ambitious fundraising goals.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND ACCOUNTABILITIES: |
Core Responsibilities
Strategic Event Leadership
• Develop and implement innovative event strategies that align with organizational goals, donor engagement priorities, and brand standards
• Serve as the lead advisor to nine county boards, guiding event committees through concept development, planning, execution and stewardship
• Provide strategic counsel on event design, audience targeting, sponsorship activation, and donor cultivation
Budget & Financial Oversight
• Create and manage detailed budgets for each event, ensuring fiscal discipline and maximizing ROI
• Monitor expenses, negotiate vendor contracts, and ensure timely payments and reconciliations
• Provide financial reporting and post-event analysis to inform future planning
Project & Vendor Management
• Lead end-to-end project management for all events, including timelines, task delegation, and stakeholder coordination
• Source, negotiate, and manage relationships with venues, caterers, production teams, and other external vendors
• Ensure all logistical elements are executed with precision, including permits, insurance, staffing, and contingency planning
Sponsorship & Donor Engagement
• Collaborate with the Development team to identify, secure, and steward event sponsors
• Ensure fulfillment of all sponsor benefits, including branding, signage, verbal recognition, and digital presence
• Leverage events as platforms for donor cultivation, stewardship, and storytelling
Technology & Data Integration
• Utilize the Classy platform to build registration pages, giving portals, and donor tracking systems
• Ensure accurate data capture, reporting, and integration with Salesforce or other CRM platforms
• Analyze event performance metrics to drive continuous improvement through Microsoft Office products
Relationship Building & Leadership
• Cultivate strong relationships with board members, donors, volunteers, and community partners
• Serve as a collaborator to internal teams, fostering a culture of excellence and innovation
• Represent BGCMA with professionalism and enthusiasm at all public-facing events
EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS: |
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Event Management, Marketing, Communications, Nonprofit Administration, or related field
Experience
- Minimum of 3–5 years of advanced experience in event planning or nonprofit development
- Demonstrated success in managing large-scale events with complex logistics and high revenue targets
- Experience working with volunteer boards and committees in a leadership capacity
- Familiarity with Salesforce, Classy, or similar CRM and fundraising platforms
- Non-profit experience and familiarity with the mission of Boys & Girls Clubs strongly preferred

ENVIRONMENT & WORKING CONDITIONS: |
Normal internal office environment with occasional need to travel to club locations within the Metro Atlanta area. Frequent internal contacts with employees throughout organization required. Required to work evenings and weekends as needed.
