About the Role:

The EMR Nurse Educator at Regional West Medical Center (RWMC) plays a pivotal role in bridging clinical nursing expertise with electronic medical record (EMR) technology to enhance patient care quality and safety. This position is responsible for delivering comprehensive training programs that empower nursing staff to proficiently utilize EMR systems in their daily workflows. The EMR Nurse Educator collaborates closely with clinical teams, IT departments, and leadership to identify educational needs, develop tailored learning materials, and support ongoing competency assessments. By fostering a culture of continuous learning and technological adoption, this role ensures that nursing personnel are confident and efficient in documenting, retrieving, and analyzing patient information through EMR platforms. Ultimately, the EMR Nurse Educator contributes to improved clinical outcomes, streamlined documentation processes, and compliance with healthcare regulations at RWMC.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Current and valid Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license.
  • Clinical nursing experience, preferably in an acute care setting.
  • Demonstrated experience with electronic medical record systems, including training or super-user roles.
  • Strong communication and instructional skills with the ability to engage diverse adult learners.
  • Experience with Epic and proficient in computer applications

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification in Nursing Informatics or related professional certification.
  • Experience working in a large healthcare facility or medical center.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, coordinate, and deliver EMR training programs tailored to nursing staff at various skill levels in collaboration with the Clinical Informatics Nurse Manager.
  • Assess the educational needs of nursing personnel related to EMR usage and update training materials accordingly.
  • Provide one-on-one and group support to nurses during EMR implementation and ongoing use to ensure proficiency.
  • Collaborate with clinical leaders and IT specialists to integrate EMR functionalities that align with nursing workflows.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of training initiatives through feedback, competency assessments, and performance metrics.
  • Serve as a resource and advocate for best practices in EMR documentation and data management within the nursing department.
  • Stay current with updates in EMR technology, healthcare regulations, and nursing informatics to continuously enhance educational content.
