Duties

You will operate trucks up to 10,000 in gross vehicle weight.,You will operate a forklift and be able to determine height, and width of a doorway or aisle to load and unload materials.,You will receive, unload, and process incoming shipments and assemble items into groups based on information shown on receiving vouchers.,You will segregate materials according to factors such as conditions, type of transaction, or property class and routes along appropriate processing lines.,You will prepare receiving reports for locally purchased items and shipments not accompanied by a receiving voucher.

Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the job elements and screen out listed below. This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: I have the ability to perform the duties of a Materials Handler as demonstrated by experience working under normal supervision, receiving, issuing, and storing various types of materials, supplies, and equipment; reading shipping documents; certifying completeness and accuracy of deliveries; checking, counting, inspecting for damage, and identifying materials, verifying against documentation; loading/unloading vehicles; storing items in the correct location; reading and preparing material/inventory documents; using automated warehouse equipment; reading and understanding warehouse plans; operating materials handling equipment/forklift. This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program. Additional vacancies may be filled by this announcement. This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
