Join Our Team as a Benefits Manager – Tampa, FL (Hybrid)

The Benefits Manager oversees the day-to-day administration, compliance, and communication of all employee benefit programs, wellness initiatives, and the 401(k) plan. This role serves as the subject matter expert (SME) on benefits and 401k. The position partners with HR, payroll, finance, and vendors to deliver high-quality employee experience.

This is a hybrid position with on-site presence required at least 1 to 2 days per week.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer day-to-day operations of group benefit programs, including medical, dental, vision, life, disability, wellness, and voluntary benefits.
  • Assist with annual open enrollment, including vendor coordination, system updates, and employee communications.
  • Review and reconcile carrier invoices and payroll deductions; resolve discrepancies with payroll/finance.
  • Serve as primary contact for employees regarding benefit and retirement, questions, eligibility, claims, and enrollment assistance. 
  • Collaborate on the design and implementation of employee wellness initiatives to support overall well-being.
  • Manage 401k enrollments, contributions, distributions, loans, and QDROs.
  • Ensure compliance with ERISA, ACA, COBRA, HIPAA, IRS, and DOL requirements.
  • Assist with annual audits and nondiscrimination testing. 
  • Maintain plan documents in the HRIS system. 
  • Assist with required filings, including Form 5500 and ACA reporting.
  • Ensure accurate employee records in HRIS and benefits systems.
Work Environment
  • Hybrid schedule (1–2 in-office days).



Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business, Finance, or related field.
Experience & Skills:
  • 5+ years of progressive benefits experience, including 401(k) administration.
  • Experience with self-funded plans (transition from fully insured preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of ERISA, ACA, COBRA, HIPAA, and IRS/DOL retirement rules.
  • Skilled in data analysis, reporting, and compliance.
  • Proficient in HRIS, benefits platforms, and Excel (pivot tables, v-lookups).
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and critical thinking skills.
Preferred Certifications but not required: CEBS, C(k)P, ASPPA
