Role Description:
The Safety Adviser will advise and collaborate with Project Management and Supervision to fellow employees. Responsible for making sure that employees follow health and safety laws and creating policies for a safer work environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitoring Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for assessment and evaluation across all construction projects
- Reviewing and assessing the health & safety implications of changes as they occur during construction project
- Developing and implementing reporting and communications structures on health and safety management performance for each project to enable accurate assessment and actively engaging with all aspects of day-to-day health and safety management
- Attendance, and participation in meetings with management and personnel as Attending planning and coordination reviews, for both day-to-day and longer-term safety planning for work activities
- Assisting in the evaluation of effectiveness of Health & Safety planning at site level, through the assessment of communications with all parties; including General Contractors, Trade Partner’s, their respective workers, and supervisors.
- Carrying out independent Health & Safety audits on all aspects of construction management including Monitoring compliance between health and safety planning and actual works on site
- Assess compliance with agreed KPIs across all project stages
- Coordinate work activities on the sites
- Identify, assess, and evaluate high-risk activities
- Know and Understand Client Safety Programs/Policies and ensure compliance and at times conduct training and education on these programs/policies
- Conduct training and education
- Assist and review safe plans of action, lifting plans, etc. competency of contractors and operatives
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Preferred Qualifications/ Relevant Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health and Safety or a related field (and/or 3 years experience in a designated Health & Safety role)
- In-depth knowledge of EPA standards
- Strong interpersonal skills
- OSHA 30 and or CHST
- MSHA Construction a plus
- Great attention to detail
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Ability to explain technical concepts in simple terms
- Organized and detail-oriented
