Position Summary:
A Director of International and Executive Compensation is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing compensation programs that align with the company's overall business strategy, particularly for senior executives and international employees. This role involves strategic planning, market analysis, program design, and ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
Position Responsibilities May include:
Executive compensation
• Oversee the design and development of executive compensation programs, including base salary, bonuses, long-term incentives (equity, stock options), and other executive benefits.
• Conduct market research and benchmarking against peer companies and industry standards to ensure the competitiveness of executive compensation packages.
• Prepare and review proxy-related materials, including compensation discussion and analysis (CD&A) and tabular disclosures, for inclusion in the company's proxy statement.
• Prepare and present compensation committee materials, interact with the committee's independent consultant, and align strategies between consultants and management.
• Ensure executive compensation programs comply with internal corporate governance guidelines and external regulatory requirements (e.g., SEC filings, tax laws).
• Collaborate with legal and investor relations teams on shareholder outreach efforts related to executive compensation programs.
International compensation
• Establish and maintain compensation strategies for both international and domestic locations, aligning them with the company culture and global business objectives.
• Lead the development, implementation, and evaluation of global compensation programs, processes, and systems.
• Conduct global benchmarking and market analysis to ensure competitive positioning across all geographies.
• Ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations in all operating countries (e.g., pay transparency, pay equity analysis).
• Manage compensation and tax equalization for global mobility and international assignments.
General compensation and leadership
• Analyze compensation data, identify trends, and develop reports and presentations for senior leadership and the Board of Directors.
• Provide expert support and guidance to HR business partners and business leaders on compensation matters.
• Identify opportunities to streamline and improve compensation activities and processes.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of compensation professionals.
• Partner with other departments (e.g., HR, Finance, Legal, IT) to ensure cohesive and strategic execution of total rewards initiatives.
• Perform additional projects/duties to support ongoing business needs.
Nature & Scope • Develops and implements strategic plans and objectives for the department/sub-function in an effective and innovative fashion
• Understands the business and can put together comprehensive department solutions
• Works with other leaders to establish strategic plans and works towards achieving them
• Provides leadership and direction to managers in their respective division/department
• Sees to department staffing needs (e.g. interviewing, hiring, new hire and ongoing training, annual evaluations, etc.)
• Participates in budget development and monitoring of expenses
• Level of signing authority established by company policy/guidelines
Knowledge & Skills:
• Ability to develop and implement compensation strategies that align with business objectives.
• Proficiency in analyzing data, conducting market research, and developing financial models.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills to convey complex information to diverse audiences.
• Ability to build relationships and collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
• Ability to identify and resolve complex compensation issues.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
• Deep understanding of compensation principles, regulations, and best practices.
• Experience in designing and administering equity-based compensation plans.
• Experience in designing and administering short-term and long-term incentive plans.
• Experience in designing and administering executive compensation programs.
• Experience in managing compensation programs for international employees.
• Experience in conducting and utilizing compensation surveys.
• Ability to apply good judgement, strong work ethics and integrity on the job.
Experience:
• A minimum of 10+ years of progressively responsible business/HR experience, with majority in compensation roles.
• 7+ years of international and executive compensation experience including market and competitive analysis, compensation analytics, program development/management and working knowledge of applicable laws
• 5 plus years in a HR Management role
• High Volume Manufacturing environment experience a plus
Education/Certification:
• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field; a Master's degree is often preferred.
• Professional certifications such as Certified Compensation Professional (CCP), Certified Executive Compensation Professional (CECP), or Global Remuneration Professional (GRP) desired
