Position Summary:

Under direct supervision the Resource Crew Member is responsible for performing all assigned and qualified tasks in the most safe, efficient, and effective manner possible; while working towards the completion of assigned tasks and objectives for the benefit of the Washoe Tribe Resource Crew. Maintains confidentiality of all privileged information.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities: 

· Works as a member of a Resource Crew in vegetation management, firewood production, or other field projects.

· Uses a variety of hand tools, power tools, and equipment.

· Ensures all assigned equipment is properly; cleaned, maintained, and serviced on schedule.

· Ensures assigned equipment is used properly and in accordance with training and certifications.

· Demonstrates safety in all aspects of assignments. Utilizes all prescribed safety equipment, techniques, practices, and methods to ensure the wellbeing of other personnel, the preservation of equipment, and the protection of the assigned work environment.

· Participates in team proficiency and in safety reviews.

· Communicates and interact with others in a patient, respectful and effective manner, representing the tribe and team with dignity, integrity, and spirit of cooperation in all relationships. 

· Works safely in a dynamic and complex work site that includes, people, animals, heavy equipment, vehicles, & trailers, under potentially hazardous conditions.

· Wear personal protective equipment in accordance with department protocols while performing duties on and off Tribal land.

· May be required to provide on-site oversight of assigned task support personnel.

· Perform other duties as required.

Requirements

  

Minimum Qualifications:

NE10

· High School Diploma or GED and/or one year experience performing manual labor or work that requires physical labor; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

· S-212 – Wildland power chainsaw certification with FAL-3 qualification or able to obtain certification within 6 months of employment

· Basic first aid and CPR certified or able to obtained within 6 months of employment.

· OSHA (10 hours) certification or able to obtained within 1 year of employment. 

· National Incident Management System (NIMS) Compliant, with completion certificates from ICS 100, 200, 700, & 800 or must obtain within 1 year of employment.

· Must be willing to submit to random drug/alcohol screening.

NE11

· High School Diploma or GED and three (3) years of relevant experience with the type of work being required or equivalent combination of higher education and experience.

· S-212 – Wildland power chainsaw certification with FAL-2 qualification. 

· Basic first aid and CPR certified.

· OSHA (10 hours) certification. 

· NIMS Compliant, with completion certificates from ICS 100, 200, 700, & 800. 

NE12

· High School Diploma or GED plus five (5) year of relevant experience with the type of work being required or equivalent combination of higher education and experience, and either:

o S-212 – Wildland power chainsaw certification with FAL-1 qualification; or

o NWCG Red Card Certified with S-212 - Wildland power chainsaw certification with FAL-2 qualification; or

o One (1) year of documented heavy equipment operation or formal training certificate; and S-212 – Wildland power chainsaw certification with FAL-2 qualification; or

o  Class B Commercial Driver’s License and S-212 – Wildland power chainsaw certification with FAL-3 qualification.

· Basic first aid and CPR certified.

· OSHA (30 hours) certification or able to obtain within 1 year. 

· NIMS Compliant, with completion certificates from ICS 100, 200, 700, & 800. 

NE13

· High School Diploma or GED plus Seven (7) year of relevant experience with the type of work being required or equivalent combination of higher education and experience, and either:

o Three (3) year of documented heavy equipment proficiency digging, loading, and grading operations and S-212 – Wildland power chainsaw certification with FAL-2 qualification; or

o Class A Commercial Driver’s License and S-212 – Wildland power chainsaw certification with FAL-3 qualification; or

o Three (3) year of documented heavy equipment proficiency digging, loading, and grading operations and NWCG Wildland Firefighter Certification (see separate requirements).

· Basic first aid and CPR certified.

· OSHA (30 hours) certification. 

· NIMS Compliant, with completion certificates from ICS 100, 200, 700, & 800. 

NE14 (Fire Support Only)

· High School Diploma or GED plus Seven (7) year of relevant experience with the type of work being required or equivalent combination of higher education and experience, and either:

o Three (3) year of documented heavy equipment proficiency digging, loading, and grading operations and S-212 – Wildland power chainsaw certification with FAL-2 qualification; and 

o NWCG Engineer, Senior Firefighter Certification (see separate requirements).

· Basic first aid and CPR certified.

· OSHA (30 hours) certification.

· NIMS Compliant, with completion certificates from ICS 100, 200, 700, & 800.

· Ability to communicate effectively in the English language both verbally and in writing.

· Ability to be sensitive to Tribal cultural needs of the communities in which the work is performed.

Physical Demands:

· Work hours will normally involve 40-hour work weeks, but may be variable. 

· Ability to stand and walk for extended periods. Ability to lift, bend, stoop, kneel push, pull, and carry heavy loads on cluttered and inconsistent surfaces, uneven terrain or on steep slopes.

· Ability to perform sustained and vigorous activities in a variety of environmental conditions.

· This position requires frequent lifting up to 65 lbs. unassisted, and occasional assisting with team lifting up to 200 lbs.

· Work is subject to performance under prolonged adverse environmental and weather conditions.

Work Environment:

· Work is subject to performance under prolonged adverse environmental and weather conditions.

· Individual may be subject to extreme heat or cold, changing weather conditions, large moving objects, with heavy equipment, hazardous materials, uneven ground, flying debris, and excessive noise. 

· Situations where safety-toe shoes, safety goggles, dust masks, gloves, protective face shields, thick clothing and/or hardhats are needed may arise. 

· Tight time constraints and multiple competing priorities are common. 

· Travel may be required.

The Washoe Tribe of Nevada & California requires a background check of each new hire for employment purposes. Therefore, all conditionally offered positions will be subject to the following:

  • Negative alcohol and drug screen
  • Obtain or possess a valid driver’s license for either the state      of Nevada or California within 30 days
  • Must be insurable under the Washoe Tribe’s driving policy
  • Preference to qualified Native      American Indians will be given
