CLASSIFIED POSITION:    4-day, 6.5-hr Pre-School Aide, Hocking Hills Elementary (3-DAY RESULTANT BID)

SHIFT TIMES:   TUESDAY - FRIDAY, 9:00 AM –4:00 PM

QUALIFICATIONS:

An Associates Degree is preferred, but a high school diploma/GED is acceptable.
Must hold a valid Ohio Educational Aide Permit as defined in section 3319.088 of the O.R.C.
Non-guilty/non-conviction statement and BCI/FBI check as defined in section 3301-32-02 (B) (C), O.R.C.
Medical Statement as defined in 3301-37-04 (D), O.R.C. before first date of employment.
Successfully complete and meet any new standards/rules as defined in 3301-37-04, O.R.C.
Such alternatives to the qualifications as the Board of Education and/or the Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable.

JOB DESCRIPTION

TITLE: PRESCHOOL AIDE

QUALIFICATIONS:

An Associates Degree is preferred, but a high school diploma/GED is acceptable.
Must hold a valid Ohio Educational Aide Permit as defined in section 3319.088 of the O.R.C.

REPORTS TO:

Preschool Teacher
Building Principal
Director of Special Services

CONTRACT STATUS:   9 months

TIME SCHEDULE:       6.5 Hour Work Day (30 minute lunch)

COMPENSATION:       Educational Aide Salary Schedule

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assists the preschool teacher in preparation of materials and instruction of preschool students.
Assist the preschool teacher in collection of data that will help in identifying I.E.P. goals, teaching strategies.
Attends I.E.P. meetings, which are scheduled during the workday.
Assists the preschool teacher in reinforcement of the following:

Toileting Gross/Motor Activities
Dressing Prevocational Tasks
Eating Instruction
Communication Food Preparation
Housekeeping

Assists special teachers (Art, Music, P.E.) or related service personnel (Speech/Language Pathologist, Occupational Therapist, Physical Therapist, etc.) with preschool students, as needed.
To perform any other duties as deemed necessary by the preschool teacher, building principal, or Director of Pupil Personnel Services. Such duties may not be exclusive to the preschool program.
Obtain First Aid, Communicable Disease, and Child Abuse Prevention training during the first year of employment, and 15 hours of training each year, per ODE Preschool Licensing and 30 Step Up To Quality hours per biennium.
Must obtain an Ohio Professional Registry on The Ohio Child Care Resource and Referral Association and meet all Step Up To Quality mandates.
