Tejano Center for Community Concerns Inc. (Tejano Center) is a nonprofit organization
established in 1992 as an agent for change to empower neighborhood residents through education, housing stability, financial empowerment and equitable economic opportunities.

About the Program
Given the organization’s work with families throughout Harris County, Tejano Center sees firsthand the effects of home hazards on a family’s health caused by serious hazards. Hazards not remediated by homeowners are usually due to a lack of income, a lack of knowledge of the issues and dangers, and/or due to the resident’s age or disability. Tejano Center’s Healthy Homes Repair Program, through funding by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, was created to support underserved neighborhoods and increase sustainability of existing housing and communities.

About the Position
The Intake Case Manager role is vital to the Healthy Homes Repair Program and the client’s process and experience with the agency as the first point of contact. The Intake Case Manager will work collaboratively with the Housing Rehabilitation and Program Managers to ensure clients experience a seamless transition between intake, eligibility, home repair and project close out. The Intake Specialist must be comfortable interacting with people from all walks of life.

The Intake Case Manager reports to the Healthy Homes Program Manager.

Job duties

Manages inquiries for home repair services
Conducts follow up with prospective clients to ensure maximum conversion rates
Assists clients with document collection, generate client files and tracks in client management system
Provides information to clients about other available services including, but not limited to budgeting, mortgages, credit reports, housing issues, consumer protection laws, down payment assistance, homestead exemptions, foreclosure, loan restructuring, etc.
Makes referrals to other eligible programs based on client eligibility
Maintain full and accurate case files and databases for all reporting purposes
Participates in special projects as assigned by management
Maintain a resource directory to accommodate client inquiries and referrals

Required abilities and experience

Background in social work, business administration, public administration, community development, or related field preferred
Five years’ experience in performing administrative work
Experience in managing case files, entering data into databases, pulling and preparing reports, and completing tasks for compliance
Salesforce or other equivalent CMS experience working with a vulnerable or marginalized population such as low-income families, underserved populations, or disaster victims
Strong interpersonal, speaking and writing skills
Excellent task management skills, including attention to details and ability to trouble-shoot
Ability to identify and analyze issues, and develop alternative courses of action using creativity and problem-solving skills
Ability to manage multiple clients and priorities simultaneously
Ability to collaborate and network to build lasting relationships with a variety of contacts
Knowledge of spreadsheet and word processing software
Bilingual/Spanish preferred

Ability to work flexible hours as necessary to accommodate client availability
