Under the supervision of the Food Service Department manager or designee, and at the direction of a Food Service Lead I and/or Lead II, assists in the ordering, receiving, storage, preparation, service, and sales of food in a cafeteria, snack bar, mobile cart, or designated location for breakfast and lunch programs, a la carte sales, and catering. Cleans kitchen equipment and service utensils and does related tasks as required. Assists in the completion of daily documentation related to the preparation and service of food. Assists in the maintenance of all required Hazard Analysis at Critical Control Points (HACCP) temperature logs, inspection documentation and related reports. May count and reconcile cash. All job functions are completed while maintaining HACCP and Serve Safe standards, state & local Health Codes, and District standards and policies and support the District goals.
Requirements / Qualifications
Job Functions:
• Assists with ordering and receiving of food and supplies.
• Completes HACCP assignments as requested.
• Attends all meetings and training as required.
• Reports unsafe work conditions to Lead.
• Assists in determination and notification of student meal eligibility.
Requires Knowledge of:
• Methods of commercial food preparation
• Sanitation principles in a commercial kitchen.
Requires Ability to:
• Learn to perform simple cooking, baking, service, and cashier duties.
• Operate standard commercial kitchen food preparation equipment.
• Read and write in English at a level sufficient for the performance of assigned duties.
• Understand and carry out oral and written directions.
• Ability to perform job functions in a fast paced, demanding, time limited service environment while maintaining composure and customer service standards.
• Establish and maintain effective work relationships with those contacted in the performance of required duties.

The physical requirements indicated below are necessary to perform the essential job functions. Reasonable accommodation will be made to enable a person with a disability to perform these functions.
• Sufficient vision to read printed material.
• Sufficient hearing to hear conversation in person and on the telephone.
• Ability to speak in an understandable voice with sufficient volume to be heard in normal conversation, on the telephone.
• Ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force to push, pull, drag, lift or otherwise move objects.
• This type of work requires frequent and continuous standing, walking, lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, kneeling, squatting and reaching overhead for extended periods of time.
• Sufficient manual dexterity and/or mobility to grasp and or manipulate small objects, move about the work area, and move between work areas.
• Employees in this classification generally work in a standard commercial kitchen environment.
