SUMMARY OF POSITION:
Springs Rescue Mission considers every position one of ministry and a vital and valued part of our team. The Volunteer Engagement Coordinator (VEC) provides support to the Springs Rescue Mission (SRM) Volunteer Engagement Department by being the main support Liaison to Programs areas supported by Volunteers. The VEC will be the heartbeat of the volunteer department that is the main conduit to ensure smooth coordination with programs staff, trains volunteers, overseeing ail group volunteer opportunities at SRM, supporting various events on and off campus, and any special assignments given. See below for more specifics but all duties must be completed with the heart of Jesus, helping both volunteers and clients of SRM experience transformation. The Volunteer Engagement department has the privilege of touching each department on campus and the VEC must be comfortable to engage with all of them as well as engage clients of SRM. The expectation is to be out engaging volunteers, staff, and solving daily problems. At times, this role may work outside normal business hours to ensure support for our 24/7 operations. This role will be critical in coordination of Volunteers with Program needs. In this role, you will be expected to have a thorough understanding of current Programs roles and philosophy and provide initial training for volunteer duties in this area.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Volunteer Training
- Will be responsible for building relationships with programs staff so that there is an open line of communication.
- Will create and manage the volunteer training program including orientation, initial training, and any follow-up training necessary.
- Maintains updated guidelines and expectations for volunteer positions as agreed upon with Program Managers.
- Develops training programs for each volunteer position as needed.
- Trains those volunteers based on the guidelines established.
- Assists in continuing volunteer education through regular seminars.
- Engages and supports volunteers in their respective areas to ensure open and continuing communication.
Volunteer Groups
- Collaborates with SRM Departments to develop and maintain a list of Group volunteer opportunities from which to offer service opportunities to community partners.
- Communicates and coordinates with Group Point of Contact relative to scheduled opportunities via phone and group account.
- Hosts groups while on campus through greeting, clocking in, tour, intros, and goodbyes.
General
- Assists in the content creation of monthly volunteer newsletters and social media content.
- Attends staff meetings and Mission/Department special events.
- Must be able to occasionally work evenings, weekends, and work outdoors.
- Attends all required meetings and reviews SRM emails regularly.
- General Volunteer department support.
- Duties and responsibilities may be added, deleted, or changed at any time at the discretion of management, formally or informally, either verbally or in writing.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum Associate degree or above in related field, and/or 2+ more years of non-profit experience or equivalent of combined applicable education and experience
- Experience managing volunteers highly desired.
- Programs experience or related experience highly desired
- Supervisory/Management experience preferred, but not required

- Maintains a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and is a constant witness. Christ-centered and compassionate attitude in dealing with people including the homeless and faithfully upholds and exemplifies SRM’s Statement of Faith
- Serves as an advocate for the homeless and raising awareness of the needs and concern for the addicted, and those in poverty.
- Believes that volunteers are vital to accomplishing the Vision and Mission of Springs Rescue Mission and thus is part of mobilizing the community in the fight against addiction, poverty, and homelessness.
- Sees this role as a ministry opportunity for both volunteers, staff, and guests of SRM.
- Exercise judgment that is consistent with SRM mission statement and core values, standards, practices, policies, procedures, regulation, or law.
- Self-starter with high degree of initiative and professionalism to manage time and resources.

- Ability to objectively coach, teach, and lead volunteers in tasks, projects, and more complex positions.
- Highly proficient computer and software knowledge, skills, and abilities: Microsoft applications such as: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, OneDrive, and Teams; Volunteer Management Systems (i.e., VolunteerHub).
- Highly effective presentation and public speaking skills.
- Excellent spelling, grammar, and written communication skills.
- Excellent telephone and information gathering skills.
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL FACTORS:
Occasionally = 1%-33%; frequently = 34%-66%; continuously = 67%-100%.
- Typical indoor and outdoor campus work environment with work including evenings, weekends, and outdoor work.

Salary & benefits include the following: $47,000 - $53,000 DOE
* Full benefits package to include: medical benefits with SRM paying 85% of the medical premium, voluntary Dental, Vision, Allstate Accident Plan, SRM-paid Short-Term and Long-Term Disability, Life Insurance, and AD&D. Also offered are 8 paid holidays, 21 days of accruable PTO, paid “Soul Care Retreat” days (up to 4 depending upon availability), Pay-on-Demand, and a 403b retirement plan with SRM-match after one (1) year, 100% vested beginning DOH; (Benefits are subject to change based on reevaluation or benefit plan changes annually.)
*Benefits begin at 1st of the following month after completing a full 30 days of employment (I.E. start date 4 January 2024, benefits initiate 1 March 2024)
