Job Summary:
The Co-Manufacturing Manager - Enrobing is responsible for the creation of the enrobing program and processes, ensuring consistent product quality, operational efficiency, and team performance. This role includes managing enrobing line operations, coordinating with cross-functional teams, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. The Co-Manufacturing Manager - Enrobing ensures compliance with food safety standards and company policies while fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and excellence.
Responsibilities of the Position:
- Lead daily operations of the enrobing lines, ensuring optimal throughput and minimal downtime. Identify and implement improvements in yield, waste reduction, and equipment efficiency.
- Adhere to all creative werks policies and procedures, including but not limited to safety and food safety.
- Supervise, train, and develop enrobing team members; manage staffing and performance.
- Maintain accurate records of production metrics, downtime, and quality checks.
- Author and revise standard operating procedures in Dozuki.
- Act as the main line of communication with Client Services by filling out new item forms for new jobs, detailing Manufacturing Instruction concerns, and explaining any other relevant information and escalating other issues thru proper communication channels.
- Monitor coating consistency, weight control, and appearance. Communicate food safety concerns and potential quality issues with the Quality team.
- Inform the Maintenance team of machine/equipment issues and submit work requests.
- Work with the Warehouse team to guarantee material is brought to the lines in a timely manner and monitor accurate tracking of pallets (ghost pallets).
- Enforce safety protocols and ensure proper use of PPE and equipment.
- Communicate safety as the number one priority for employees by encouraging safe work practices and immediately addressing safety concerns. Assist floor Supervisors in reviewing all safety incidents and perform RCA using 5 Whys method.
- Perform Gemba walks at least 2 times per month, instilling a constant safety-based mindset.
- Oversee sanitation of enrobing rooms and equipment per company standards.
- Maintain a positive work environment to ensure creative werks is the employer of choice for all employees. Support and coach the activities of assistant supervisors, team leads, and operators.
- Act as translator between employees who have difficulty communicating with each other
- Perform other duties as assigned by Management.
Requirements
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- In-depth knowledge of enrobing equipment and chocolate tempering processes
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve production issues
- Knowledge of SQF and GMP regulations
- Strong leadership and team management skills
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Proficiency in production documentation and basic computer systems
- Ability to read, write and understand English work instructions
- Bi-lingual (English and Spanish) preferred but not required
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Minimum 3 years of experience in food manufacturing, with at least 1 year in enrobing or chocolate processing
- Prior supervisory experience in a production environment preferred
Food Safety Responsibilities:
- Attend all food safety training sessions (GMP, SQF, HACCP, Allergen, Food Facility Security, Preventing Foodborne Illness)
- Participate in company GMP walks
- Enforce company rules regarding food safety and monitoring
Working Conditions:
- Office setting and warehouse environment with temperature range of 55 – 80 degrees
- Handling of food ingredients and powered industrial equipment
- This position requires the employee to be on-call at all times to respond to any emergency
- This position may require the employee to work weekends or shifts other than their own to meet the needs of the business
Physical Requirements:
- Operate standard office equipment.
- Reach with hands and arms.
- Must regularly lift and/or move objects up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move objects up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move objects that weigh more than 100 pounds.
- Stand and/or walk continuously for 8–12 hours a day.
- Frequently push, pull, squat, bend, and reach, all with or without reasonable accommodation.
