Software Engineer IIAxion BioSystems is a rapidly growing, private equity backed life science tools company located in Atlanta, GA. The Company is a leading manufacturer of microelectrode array (MEA), imaging and impedance systems used to evaluate the biology of networked cells (e.g. neurons, cardiac cells, lung and liver) for applications such as cancer research, vaccine development, modeling neurological disease and drug development. When combined with modern cell culture technologies, Axion’s platform allows scientists to model human biology in a dish. Axion’s products are used throughout the world by pharmaceutical and biotech companies, governmental agencies, and universities for drug safety, drug discovery, cell and gene therapy development and disease modeling assays. 
Axion BioSystems, Inc. is seeking a Software Engineer, reporting to our Software Manager. The primary responsibility of this role is to develop our flagship desktop software as well as device firmware.

Job Duties 

  • Design and develop software on an agile team
  • Design and write testable, reusable code
  • Provide and receive feedback on design and code reviews
  • Advise/Support other teams in the use of our software

Required Skills & Abilities

  • Experience using C# professionally, OR demonstrated proficiency with      a similar object-oriented language or platform
  • The ability to put the team/product/customer first and focus on what      we can do to put the best product out there. We take pride in all aspects      of our products and software is but one component. Sometimes the best      solution to a problem is in the hardware, or process or documentation.
  • An eagerness to learn new things and develop new skills. Our team      works on firmware and desktop applications. You’ll be expected to work on      both. 
  • Good communication skills and teamwork
  • The ability to contribute during all phases of the development      lifecycle
  • Work with multidisciplinary team to design      and plan development

Non-Required, But Nice-to-Have Skills

  • Experience writing Windows desktop applications using WPF
  • C or C++ experience, particularly for embedded development
  • Experience with Git, GitHub, Jira and the Microsoft Office suite
  • Experience with Azure, ASP.NET, relational databases, REST APIs and Cloud Technologies in general
  • Experience with Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or similar CI tools

Education & Experience

  • Education is less important than solid experience and ability. If      you are a software developer with at least 3 years of experience and are      looking to grow your capabilities and responsibilities, please apply!
