As a Software Tools Developer Intern, you will join the Cirrus Logic Platform Development Team within the Product Validation and Test organization. The Platform Development Team supports hardware and software infrastructure for both the Validation Engineering and Product Test Engineering (PTE) organizations. You will work alongside engineers responsible for developing and maintaining tools that support the validation team, including development environments, hardware drivers, and automation.
As an intern, you’ll collaborate with experienced engineers to solve real-world challenges, contribute to product development, and gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced, supportive environment. This internship will take place during the Spring 2026 semester over the course of a 12-16 week long internship working a full-time schedule.
Responsibilities
Collaborate with validation engineers to understand software tool requirements.
Assist in the development and maintenance of tools for development environments, hardware drivers, and automation.
Support the integration and bring-up of hardware/software platforms used in validation.
Gather end user feedback to document and enhance tool features.
Mentorship
You will be paired with an experienced mentor who provides personal guidance.
You will participate in Agile Development processes and technical reviews to track progress and receive constructive feedback.
You will attend regular meetings with engineers across the department for learning best practices and networking.
Example Projects
Assist in creating or updating Python drivers for new hardware platforms with database tracking.
Enhance and implement new capabilities for PCB schematic parsing scripts.
Develop GUI application for lab equipment.
Enhance CI/CD automated testing processes.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Currently pursuing a BS/MS in Electrical or Computer Engineering.
Minimum junior-level undergraduate with Electrical or Computer Engineering focus.
Coursework or experience with Python programming language, object-oriented programming (OOP), and Git or similar version control system.
Basic electrical engineering knowledge in analog or digital electronics.
Self-motivated with excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Skills & Qualifications
Experience or coursework in product test engineering.
Hands on experience in an ATE test environment.
Coursework or experience in embedded processor firmware development.
Cirrus Logic follows a 2+ day in-office work schedule but interns should expect to be in the office more often, up to 5 days per week, based on business needs and team preference. Interns must be based within commutable distance of the work location listed on the job posting, or willing to relocate prior to beginning their internship with Cirrus Logic.
