About Created Kids

Creative Kids is our church’s ministry designed specifically for children and students with special needs, from birth through high school. We believe every child is created in the image of God, uniquely gifted, and deeply loved. Creative Kids provides a safe, welcoming, and Christ-centered environment where kids of all abilities can experience God’s love, learn about Jesus, and build meaningful connections with caring leaders and peers. During weekend services and special events, Creative Kids offers tailored programming and sensory-friendly spaces designed to meet the individual needs of each child — whether they need one-on-one attention, adaptive curriculum, or simply a place where they feel they belong. Our mission is to support families and remove barriers so that every child has the opportunity to grow in their faith and discover the joy of being part of the church family. 


The Role

The Special Needs Coordinator leads our Creative Kids ministry, creating a safe and welcoming environment where children with special needs can encounter Jesus and belong. This role recruits and equips volunteers, develops adaptive curriculum and programming, and supports families, ensuring every child is included and cared for during services and events. Through leadership, creativity, and compassion, the coordinator helps make church accessible to every child, no matter their ability.


Key Responsibilities

● Cast and carry the vision of Created Kids and Mission Church to special needs families, leaders and volunteers 

● Establish curriculum for weekend services 

● Champion the special needs families and kids at Mission and create an inviting ministry for our nextdoor neighbors 

● Train, equip, and on-board volunteers to carry out the vision of the ministry.

● Participate in church-wide events, NextGen initiatives, and staff meetings

● Strategize around partnering Parents, Leaders and the church

● Experience working with children with special needs (in educational, ministry, or caregiving contexts). 

● Compassionate, patient, and creative in meeting kids and families where they are.

● Familiarity with or willingness to learn about a variety of special needs (e.g., autism, Down syndrome, sensory processing disorders, developmental delays).

● Embrace other duties as assigned by the NextGen Pastor 


What You Bring

● A growing relationship with Jesus Christ

● A deep love for special needs kids and families and a passion for creating a place for them at Mission 

● Experience in Special Education (preferred: 2+ years) 

● Proven ability to recruit, develop, and care for volunteer teams 

● Self-starter with creativity and initiative to build life-changing environments ● Excellent organization, time management, and interpersonal skills 

● High emotional intelligence, positivity, and approachability with students and parents ● A lifestyle and character that reflect spiritual maturity, humility, and integrity ● Willingness to work on a team. “Team Player” mentality 

● Embodies Humble, Hungry and Smart 


Bonus Skills (Not Required, but Helpful!)

● Degree in Special Education
