About the Department
The Program Assistant within DEIB (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, & Belonging) will play an important role in supporting community engagement efforts, fostering partnerships, and promoting diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging initiatives. This position focuses on expanding outreach efforts and fostering collaboration with external stakeholders.
Position Duties
- Monitors office inventory and purchases supplies as needed.
- Maintains the main DEIB office email list and responds to applicable inquiries and directs others to the necessary individuals.
- Monitors the incoming Mail for the office
- Handles incoming phone calls for the DEIB Office.
- Maintains office files to ensure items are filed properly
- Coordinates with stakeholders about prospective DEIB events
- Maintain relationships with the community and external stakeholders to build a community rapport for potential future collaborations.
- Serves as the primary contact for all inquiries about DEIB events.
- Coordinates with external stakeholders to ensure smooth setup and breakdown of scheduled events
- Develops questionnaires for after DEIB events to gather information on how the event has gone and what could have gone better.
- Develop promotional flyers for DEIB events using Canva, Publisher, or another software.
- Proofreads all campus emails and flyers for accuracy and completeness.
- Schedules meetings per the request of the supervisor.
- Prepares meeting summaries to send out to meeting attendees.
- Aids in meetings by taking notes as requested.
- Assist with the recruitment of student employees as needed.
- Attend OC events to represent the DEIB office when requested to explain the perks and activities the DEIB office has.
Minimum Qualifications

- High School diploma or equivalent
- Experience with Microsoft products
- Experience working in a DEI setting.

Please note that we are unable to sponsor visas for this position. Only candidates who are currently authorized to work in the United States will be considered.
Hourly employees must work 480 hours in a rolling six-month period to become eligible for health benefits. Hourly employees must work 70 hours in any five months for two consecutive years to become eligible for retirement. This is an hourly position scheduled to work up to 18 hours per week, with a salary of $18.61. They are not initially eligible for benefits upon hire, but could qualify for the following.
This is a part-time classified position. All classified positions will start their salary at Step A , when you have completed six months of probation, you will receive a 5 percent pay increase. A collective bargaining agreement exists, and this position is covered by the Washington Public Employees Associate (WPEA) Union. Classified positions qualify for the following benefits:
