In this role, you will be a vital part of our accounting department, ensuring the financial health of our company by managing customer accounts, controlling credit risk, and ensuring timely collections. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILTIES
In collaboration with CFO and/or Controller, the Accounts Receivable Specialist is responsible for processing and accounting for all credit extended and cash received in accordance with company policies. This job also has important tasks as part of the month closing process.
JOB INTERACTIONS AND INTERFACE
This role interacts with internal staff in Sales, Service, and the customers of the company.
Your Key Responsibilities:
- Daily Operations: Accurately invoice daily shipments, process and apply customer payments, and manage credits to customer accounts.
- Credit & Collections: Manage customer credit limits and payment terms. Proactively analyze accounts receivable aging reports and initiate appropriate collection actions.
- Shipment Approval: Review and approve shipment requests based on customer account status and credit history.
- Collaboration: Work closely with our Sales and Service teams, as well as directly with customers, to resolve billing inquiries and maintain strong, healthy partnerships.
- Month-End Close: Assist with crucial month-end closing procedures and reporting.
- Inventory Management: Manage the inventory cycle count process to ensure accuracy.
- Process Improvement: Continuously identify opportunities to improve accounts receivable processes and efficiency.
- Team Support: Serve as a knowledgeable backup for other accounting functions as needed.

What We're Looking For (Required Qualifications):
- Bachelor's degree in business or related field
- Two years of related experience
- Excellent computer skills
- Enjoy working with others, including team members and the occasionally frustrated customer.
- Legal Authorization to work in the United States. Sponsorship for this role will not be provided.
What Will Set You Apart (Preferred Qualifications):
- Accounting Bachelor's degree or pursuing one (Winco offers tuition assistance!)
- Experience in an accounting department, manufacturing or distribution environment.
- Intermediate to advanced Excel skills, including VLOOKUPs, pivot tables, and other data analysis functions.
