Job Summary
An Applications Research Editor for Dorman Products independently plans, organizes, and conducts research of automotive parts from OE manufacturer's sources for use in automotive catalogs.
Primary Duties
- Manage application data in central catalog tool to support new and existing products.
- Validate OE research and application data in catalog system.
- Investigate and resolve data discrepancies reported by key accounts and customer support line.
- Maintain AAIA part type classification codes for products to ensure accurate part lookup in customer systems.
- Analyze OE information to determine the correct connection between OE parts and the specific vehicles they fit.
- Review competitive application data as required and initiate improvements to maintain best-in-class market position.
- Responsible for final approval on all application information related to specific parts.
- Develop the clearest application description possible to ensure that a customer will be able to select the correct part for their vehicle.
- Work directly with and provide leadership to the Product Management team to develop detailed data which is easily searchable in customer systems.
- Independently assemble, edit, and proofread application charts/files based on OE parts data.
- Partner with Product Managers to maintain accuracy of product data.
Qualifications
- Physical Requirement: Capability to lift 20 pounds.
- Working Conditions: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to reach, swivel, carry items from one building to another, and speak and actively listen. Noise level is usually moderate.
Education / Experience
- Associates degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school.
- 5+ years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Previous experience in automotive parts sales / counter sales.
