About the RoleHARMAN Professional seeks a skilled and passionate Hardware Engineer to join our innovative team dedicated to audio engineering excellence. In this role, you will lead the design and development of world-class mixer products, supporting all phases of the product lifecycle from conception through launch. As a Principal Engineer, you will conceptualize, design, implement, and test technologies, tools, and processes, consistently demonstrating technical leadership and innovation. You will independently plan, define, and execute projects with minimal oversight.You will design and develop hardware systems for professional mixer products, leveraging both your expertise and emerging technologies to advance Harman in the professional mixer market in terms of cost efficiency and user experience. Additionally, you will focus on developing and refining tools and designs that support simulation, modeling, and performance optimization of mixer hardware components. The ideal candidate possesses in-depth knowledge of mixer system architecture, including electrical, mechanical, and signal processing elements.What You Will DoArchitect, design, and test audio mixer products to meet performance, reliability, and cost objectives.Lead and participate in technical design reviews, providing expert guidance on all aspects of product design and development.Ensure products consistently comply with customer and internal specifications, as well as cost targets.Drive research and development of new technologies and innovative product solutions.Release and maintain controlled documents within Harman’s documentation management system.Support the execution of the mixer product roadmap and New Product Introduction (NPI) targets through hands-on hardware development and collaborative work with cross-functional teams.Coordinate closely with Engineering, Product Management, Quality, and Manufacturing teams to align resources, manage timelines, and maintain cost controls throughout the product lifecycle.Represent engineering interests in discussions with production, quality, and advanced manufacturing teams—particularly in Tijuana—to enhance design-to-production processes and optimize product quality.Enhance development processes and planning tools to improve team efficiency and product delivery.Apply technical expertise to design, simulate, and validate mixer hardware systems, including both electrical and mechanical components.Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure seamless integration of hardware with firmware, software, and system-level requirements.Participate in design reviews, prototype assessments, and troubleshooting activities to guarantee product performance and reliability.Maintain comprehensive documentation and uphold compliance with internal standards and industry best practices.What You Need to Be SuccessfulBachelor’s degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Audio Engineering, or a related technical discipline.10+ years of experience designing hardware systems for professional audio products, with a particular focus on mixer technologies.Deep understanding of mixer system architecture, encompassing analog and digital audio signal paths, communications busses, control interfaces, and integration with firmware and software.Successful applicants will exhibit proficiency in hardware development tools, including schematic capture, PCB layout, simulation software, and test instrumentation.Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, combined with a meticulous, data-driven approach, are essential.Exceptional communication and collaboration skills are required for effective interaction with engineering, product management, manufacturing, and quality teams.Bonus Points if You HaveExperience in task break-down, accurate estimation, and effective resource scheduling.Experience collaborating within a global, matrixed organization to drive project success.Experience using Atlassian Tools, including Confluence, Jira, and Bitbucket, to manage documentation and workflows efficiently.Enthusiasm for teamwork, consistently recognizing the greater achievements made through collective effort.What Makes You EligibleWillingness to travel up to 20% both domestically and internationally.This role will be remote based but will require working in a Harman office as needed.Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a background investigation and drug screening.What We OfferFlexible work environment, allowing for full-time remote work globally for positions that can be performed outside a HARMAN or customer locationAccess to employee discounts on world-class Harman and Samsung products (JBL, HARMAN Kardon, AKG, etc.)Extensive training opportunities through our own HARMAN UniversityCompetitive wellness benefitsTuition reimbursement“Be Brilliant” employee recognition and rewards programAn inclusive and diverse work environment that fosters and encourages professional and personal development
