The Custodial Technician is responsible for keeping our facilities clean. The Custodial Technician will work with the Vehicle and Facility Manager and/or Operations Manager to set the professional standard for BCRTA. This position will work out of our Oxford, Ohio location.
Essential Job Functions:
- Performs routine upkeep to all BCRTA facilities.
- Cleans and maintains standards for offices, common areas, buses, and bus stops. Duties include, but not limited to, vacuuming, trash disposal, dusting, and window cleaning.
- Coordinates vehicle cleaning with the Vehicle & Facility Maintenance Manager or Operations Manager.
- Completes facility and vehicle checklist schedules for cleaning as required.
- Maintains the garage with all federal, state, and local guidelines.
- Evaluates and stocks consumable materials.
- Works with department managers to maintain supply stock.
- Uses personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
- Follows all BCRTA procedures and policy.
- Attends training events and meetings as assigned.
- Acts as a BCRTA ambassador, projects a positive attitude, and promotes superior customer service.

REQUIREMENTS:
Physical & Visual Activities:
Physically and mentally qualified to safely operate transit vehicles and perform all related essential job functions. (Subject to applicable legal requirements, must meet the physical qualification standards specified in the U.S. Department of Transportation Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations.)
Physical Abilities include:
- Floor Lift a minimum of 30 lbs.
- Knee lift strength of at least 30 lbs.
- Waist lift strength of at least 50 lbs.
- Chest lift strength of at least 20 lbs.
- Overhead lift strength of at least 20 lbs.
- Horizontal push/pull strength of at least 80 lbs.
- Medium agility/dynamic balance.
- Low finger dexterity.
- Low manual dexterity.
- Continuous ability to stay seated.
- Continuous ability to twist and turn head.
- Frequently able to bend over/stoop.
- Frequently ale to climb steps.
- Kneel or squat.
- Reach overhead.
ENVIRONMENTAL/ATMOSPHERIC CONDITIONS:
Occasional exposure to exhaust fumes.
JOB QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of the basic janitorial cleaning duties.
- Ability to follow oral and written directions.
- Attention to detail, ability to memorize and retain.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Fluently read, write, and speak English.
- Ability to communicate with BCRTA management.
- Work calmly and clearly under stress and perform as a team player.
Experience:
- Entry level facility and janitorial/cleaning experience.
Education:
High School diploma or GED preferred.
Valid Driver's license preferred.
LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:
- Valid Driver's License.
- Clean motor vehicle record.
