How This Role Impacts Live Oak and its People

The Senior Analyst will play a pivotal role in the Wilmington Market team, a unique, geography-focused group within Live Oak Bank’s Commercial Banking division. This team is dedicated to delivering full-service banking solutions to businesses in the Wilmington area, emphasizing personalized service and local expertise.

This role will support the full deal lifecycle—from early-stage prescreening and structuring through credit execution and long-term portfolio servicing. It combines responsibilities traditionally divided between underwriting analysts and portfolio managers into a single, high-impact role.

This individual will enable Relationship Managers to concentrate on client development by managing the credit and servicing functions for new and existing deals, ensuring credit integrity and a seamless client experience post-close.

What You’ll Do at Live Oak

Underwriting & Deal Execution

  • Assist Relationship Managers with early-stage deal evaluation and prescreening.

  • Analyze borrower financial statements and prepare detailed credit approval materials.

  • Support structuring and negotiation of term sheets and loan agreements.

  • Present new deals to internal Credit and Loan Committees.

  • Manage all aspects of the credit process from approval through closing.

  • Coordinate loan documentation and ensure timely, compliant closings.

Portfolio Management & Servicing

  • Conduct client onboarding and handoff from origination to servicing.

  • Monitor financial performance, covenant compliance, and credit exposures.

  • Lead monthly and quarterly portfolio reviews; maintain real-time risk dashboards.

  • Track and manage renewals, modifications, and covenant waivers in collaboration with Credit and Legal.

  • Coordinate funding requests (e.g., advances, draws, interest reserves) and ensure proper documentation.

  • Initiate and coordinate third-party reports (appraisals, environmental reviews, field audits).

  • Assist with risk mitigation strategies for underperforming credits and escalate issues appropriately.

  • Prepare ongoing loan review packages and servicing memos for internal stakeholders.

Strategic & Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Serve as the operational hub between Relationship Managers, Credit Admin, Legal, and Loan Operations.

  • Champion process improvements and automation opportunities within the Wilmington Market team.

  • Contribute to strategic planning, market research, and portfolio growth initiatives.

How You’ll Do It           

  • Proactively manage multiple priorities across new credit opportunities and active portfolio responsibilities.

  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of credit policy, regulatory expectations, and banking products.

  • Apply sound credit judgment while balancing risk and relationship goals.

  • Operate with autonomy and a hands-on mindset to ensure exceptional execution and service quality.

  • Stay engaged with market and industry trends to help identify new lending opportunities or emerging risks.

Required and Preferred Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field and a minimum of 3 years of experience in commercial credit analysis, underwriting, portfolio management or a minimum of 5 years of equivalent experience in lieu of a degree required.

  • Experience in both deal structuring and portfolio monitoring is strongly preferred.

  • Strong financial modeling, credit analysis, and risk assessment skills.

  • Proven ability to manage complex deals and coordinate across functional areas.

  • Working knowledge of loan documentation, servicing processes, and covenant testing.

  • Strong relationship-building and communication abilities.

The base pay range for this position is $110,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year. Compensation may also include annual bonuses and long-term incentives, subject to various metrics and company policy. A candidate’s salary is determined by several factors including travel, relevant work experience or skills and expertise.
