Job Description:

The Clinical Information Systems (Clinical IS) Product Manager serves as the project lead for all clinical IS initiatives and is responsible for the management, design and development of products within Tennessee Oncology’s patient care ecosystem.  This includes working with our partners to maintain reliable uptime and functionality of the core electronic health record and its ancillary systems, including the fulfillment of integration and reporting specifications.  This position will be coordinating closely with care providers, the Clinical Systems Informatics team, and other stakeholders to identify, address and implement the technology needs and requirements of our clinical systems and the patients they serve. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Serves as the primary administrator for clinical information systems and their connections to ancillary services
  • Develops, implements, maintains and supports integrations and interfaces between systems such as LIS, Practice Management and other internal or external clinical resources
  • Manages the product lifecycle for Clinical IS products including implementation, testing cycles and upgrades
  • Develops ad-hoc and custom reports at the request of the clinic or administrative staff as needed, utilizing third party resources to accomplish when needed
  • Builds, owns and maintains Clinical IS-related SharePoint sites, participating in knowledge sharing as it relates to the product services group and their shared responsibilities
  • Works closely with the product services team to maintain SLAs and a high-quality support model
  • Identifies opportunities and recommends improvements to clinical systems, providing advice and consultation on new and existing products
  • Maintain current and relevant knowledge of clinical application best practices and security standards, as well as best practices used in the treatment of patients in an oncology setting
  • Serves as an escalation point for Clinical IS issues, supporting the technical services group as a trusted resource on fronts both internal and external
  • Effectively communicate with technical services staff, end-users and executives
  • Provide accurate and timely information to the CIO, Director of Technology and other Tennessee Oncology employees/departments as requested
  • Promote a team atmosphere and maintain good relations with Tennessee Oncology’s internal and external user base and its partners
  • Represents the company at events as necessary

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of clinical application analysis and techniques needed to sustain operation of patient care ecosystems from a clinical and systems level
  • Strong knowledge and experience with Flatiron patient care products, specifically OncoEMR
  • Knowledge of technical models as they relate to application support ranging from client/server relationships, relational databases and interfaces
  • Understands clinical and oncology-specific workflows and their relationship to the patient and provider connected services and applications
  • Interface knowledge and experience with HL7 concepts, such as message translation, including the ability to build, troubleshoot and monitor interfaces utilizing the Mirth interface engine
  • Superior capacity to track and manage multiple projects
  • Critical thinking and able to work on intricate and transformative endeavors with the ability to independently research and perform analysis to resolve complex issues
  • Operates at a generally high level, with energy and focus
  • Demonstrates the ability to communicate positively and effectively throughout a wide array of social interactions
  • Performs well under pressure, demonstrates flexibility and responds well to changing situations and priorities
  • Strong business relationship-building skills

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • 5+ years in a clinical setting, oncology-specific nursing preferred
  • 5+ years of experience supporting or working in Clinical Information Systems in an administrative or superuser capacity

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be willing and able to lift 25 pounds or more
  • Must be willing and able to travel to satellite clinics when necessary
