Job Description Summary
Organization's Summary Statement:To manage the day-to-day administrative activities of the Landscape Services unit; this includes budgeting, HR, Payroll, procurement, and managing contractual services.
Preferences:
-Experience in a unionized environment desired.
-Ability to read construction documents.
-Project management of exterior hardscape installations, landscape design or construction experience.
-Bachelor’s degree in landscape management, landscape design, Construction/Project Management, -Business Management or related field.
-Ten (10) years’ experience in the supervision and management of large landscape maintenance
operations and/or experience in Landscape Design, Project Management, Operation Management.
Physical Demands:
Although the position is that of an administrator/manager, the incumbent will from time to time be expected to perform hands-on tasks. Must be able to manipulate heavy equipment, tools, and supplies and/or exert force up to 50 lbs.; to concurrently manipulate multiple controls on machinery and equipment; to work in hazardous or irritating environments, and adverse weather and temperature conditions; to wear and work in personal protective equipment. Incumbent is an Essential employee, subject to a 24-hour day, seven-day per week span of operation.
Licenses/Certifications:
Must have and maintain a valid Maryland Class C license (or equivalent) with fewer than six points.
Minimum Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
Experience: Three (3) years of professional secretarial, clerical, coordinator, or administrative experience. One (1) year leading or supervising professional staff.
Other: Additional work experience as defined above may be substituted on a year for year basis for up to four (4) years of the required education.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:
Knowledge of the University’s policies and operating procedures.
Skill in oral and written communication.
Skill in the use of Microsoft Office products.
Ability to develop and administer new policies and procedures.
Ability to interpret and apply policies, procedures, regulations, and laws.
