Senior Instructional Systems Designer-IWC Support Services


  • Employment Type: Full Time
  • Location: Crystal City, VA and various other sites
  • This position is contingent upon contract award.
  • The Senior Instructional Systems Designer (ISD) -IWC Support Services is overall responsible for the design, development, assessment and maintenance of effective IWC courseware. The Senior ISD supervises the Curriculum Developer and collaborates with IW Instructors, Analysts and SMEs, manages course development/design processes, evaluates course design, and applies best practices related to adult teaching and learning in an academic setting.  

Duties & Responsibilities


  1. Plan, execute and supervise all efforts to design, develop, revise, and maintain IW curriculum tailored to DoD, interagency, and allied personnel.
  1. Support instructional design efforts, ensuring training materials align with adult learning principles and best practices.
  1. Conduct research to integrate emerging trends, lessons learned, and doctrinal updates into training modules.
  1. Develop training assessments, evaluations, and performance metrics to ensure curriculum effectiveness.
  1. Assist instructors with course delivery, student engagement, and learning outcome tracking.
  1. Collaborate with DoD, interagency, and international partners to tailor content to diverse audiences.
  1. Identify and translate gaps in IW education and training into the IWC-specific and sponsored curriculum.
  1. Manage, prioritize, and resource IWC research.
  1. Collaborate closely with the Program Manager to align engagements and other work with the project plan.

  • Required Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Education, Curriculum Development, Instructional Design or related field or Bachelor's degree with 10 years of relevant experience
  • Minimum of 8 years experience performing relevant work focused on adult education, preferably in a DoD environment
  • Demonstrated understanding of different learning styles, curriculum standards, and teaching strategies
  • Demonstrated experience in creating and/or updating adult educational programs and using educational technology
  • Experience working with a learning management system and other instructional technology is required.
  • Experience with online, hybrid and face-to-face instruction in an academic environment is required.
  • Must possess a Secret Clearance.
