Program Overview: High School Engagement & Success (HSEAS) serves students 16 years old and older who have dropped out of school or are significantly behind in credits and need to graduate. We serve students through high school credit retrieval and dual credit programing that allows them to earn a high school diploma while progressing toward a college degree or certificate.
Position Overview:The High School Re-Engagement and Success Specialist works under the general supervision of the Director and Assistant Director to successfully develop and support operations for HSEAS. This position provides support to current, returning and prospective HSEAS students.
This is an exempt, salaried overtime-eligible, at-will, full-time position.Position Duties
The person in this position will:
Collaboration and Coordination of Services:
- Support the Director and Assistant Director in collaboration efforts with school district administrators, teachers, counselors, and partners to identify program participants and implement a comprehensive high school completion program;
- Create and deliver engaging presentations to school personnel, students, and parents for the High School Re-engagement intake processes and information sessions;
- Partners with HSEAS’ internal and external partners such as student government, and vendors to effectively collaborative for annual events, workshops, and clinics;
- Serve as HSEAS key liaison and the “face” of the program to high school students and staff in partnering high schools;
- Develop and improve necessary systems and programs to increase retention, recruitment and enrollment to the High School Engagement and Success Programs.
Program Support:
- Manage new student recruiting processes such as info sessions, assessments, account activation & student orientations;
- Visit schools to promote all high school re-engagement programs;
- Organize, submit and process key paperwork, such as enrollment forms, choice transfer forms, online enrollment, etc. to district and state partners;
- Track data related to new, returning, and current students, student attendance, weekly check-ins, and updates on special projects;
- Maintain systems pertaining to enrollment, grades & invoice reporting;
- Occasionally support instruction or substitute for classes;
- Lead and support major events within the program;
- Collaborate with external and internal partners to support events that that may lead to opportunities to engage and recruit students;
- Provide assistance for instructors involved in state testing, WIDA, SBA & CASAS testing;
- Attend weekly team, staff & student meetings.
Advising, Student Support & Retention:
- Advise a caseload of 40-50 students depending on program enrollment;
- Register/Drop new, returning & current students;
- Facilitate weekly check-ins with students;
- Meet with/advise students as needed;
- Use ctcLink to enter & release student groups, issue blocks, and run query reports;
- Adhere to OSPI policies while entering & tracking data for school districts;
- Serve as a liaison for WIDA, SBA & CASAS testing including tracking & submitting information in Laces;
- Track data that consists of student attendance, weekly check-ins, new/returning/current students;
- Track updates on special projects.
Administrative Support:
- Respond to inquiries and questions in person, via phone and email;
- Manage logistics around program meetings, workshops and conferences;
- Update the program website with quarterly updates and information sessions;
- Organize caseload and files for both HC and OSPI systems;
- Manage zoom drop in sessions virtually;
- Train & support student workers.

- Skillfully utilize- Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel);
- Understand and appreciate Highline College’s mission and values;
- Willingly support staff, faculty, student workers and volunteers;
- Complete special projects as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School diploma; AND
- 3-5 years of experience in education;
- AA/A degree; AND
- 1-2 years of experience in Community Colleges and/or Higher Education;
- Experience working with Community Colleges and Higher Education;
- Experience working with youth or academically vulnerable populations.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited institution in education, administration, counseling or a related field;
- 1-2 years of experience counseling/advising youth, and program development.
