Position Summary


The Equipment Mechanic is responsible for the proper maintenance and repairs of all equipment used by the Grounds Department, The Equipment Mechanic reports directly to the 1st Assistant Superintendent and the Golf Course Superintendent,


Position Duties/Responsibilities

  • Inspect, diagnose, and repair all equipment for repairs and maintenance,
  • Sharpen all cutting units utilizing specialized equipment when necessary to achieve excellent cutting quality of all mowing equipment.
  • Overhaul and repair automotive and other powered equipment including hydraulic systems, electric systems, engines, brakes, transmissions, differentials, etc.
  • Purchase proper parts needed to replace and or repair worn or broken equipment.
  • Keep accurate and up to date records on all equipment,
  • Maintain a clean, orderly and safe work area,
  • Follow environmentally sound procedures for waste disposal within established guidelines of OSHA and sate regulations.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions.
  • Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places, extreme cold; extreme heat; risk of electrical shock, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
  • Able to meet and perform the physical requirements and to work effectively in an environment which is typical to this position.
  • Must be able to safely lift up to 50-80 pounds; lift overhead and push/pull, ascend or descent ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles, maintain body equilibrium to prevent falling while, walking, sitting, crouching or navigating narrow, slippery surfaces.
  • Must be able to work in a variety of weather conditions.
  • Continuous standing and walking

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Pre-employment background check completed on all applicants who accept an offer of employment
  • Able to repair and maintain golf course equipment, golf equipment repair experience preferred
  • Available to work weekend mornings and holidays.
  • Ability to follow instructions and complete assignments.
  • Excellent time management skills.
