The Safety Manager ensures a safe work environment by developing, implementing, and maintaining safety programs, conducting risk assessments, and investigating incidents within a manufacturing facility. You will be responsible for training employees, ensuring compliance with regulations, and fostering a strong safety culture. There will be no direct reports for this position, and you will report to the Operations Manager.
Responsibilities
- Develop and Implement Safety Programs: Create and maintain comprehensive safety policies, procedures, and training programs tailored to the manufacturing environment.
- Risk Assessment and Mitigation: Regularly assess work areas, identify potential hazards, and implement measures to eliminate or control risks.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to all relevant safety regulations, including OSHA standards, and maintain necessary documentation.
- Employee Training: Develop and deliver safety training programs, such as OSHA 10 or 30-hour courses, to educate employees on safe work practices.
- Incident Investigation: Investigate workplace accidents and near misses to determine root causes and recommend corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.
- Safety Culture Promotion: Foster a positive safety culture by encouraging open communication, hazard reporting, and employee involvement in safety initiatives.
- Equipment Safety: Ensure the safe installation, operation, and maintenance of machinery and equipment.
- Emergency Response: Develop and implement effective emergency response plans and procedures.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of safety training, incidents, and inspections.
- Communication: Effectively communicate safety information to all levels of the organization, including management, supervisors, and employees.
- Continuous Improvement: Continuously evaluate and improve the effectiveness of safety programs and practices. Inspecting and Testing: Conducting routine quality inspections at various stages of production, including raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products.

- Technical Skills: Proficiency with safety management software, data analysis, and reporting.

Qualifications
- 2-5 years of relevant safety experience
- OSHA 10 Certification required, OSHA 30 Certification preferred
- Bachelor's Degree preferred

Physical Requirements
Employees must be able to lift and move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and move up to 50 pounds. Close vision is required for this job. While performing the responsibilities of this job, employees are required to speak and understand English, stand and sit, and use their fingers and thumbs. Employees are frequently required to reach with their hands and arms and are occasionally required to kneel or stoop.
While working in the factory, performing inspections and troubleshooting equipment, employees may be asked to work under varying weather conditions, operate heavy machinery and tolerate moderate noise levels.
