Occasional travel to remote overseas theatres (ex. Latvia, Kuwait, Jamaica, etc.) will be required for this position to support Canadian Forces deployed situations.
Access to the sites is either by CAF service flight or commercial flight.
The Team Leader, Deployed Operations, leads and manages DCC’s deployed operations program. The incumbent supervises the delivery of DCC services to support of overseas infrastructure projects for the Client-Partners, in particular the Canadian Joint Operations Command (CJOC), Canadian Forces Joint Operational Support Group (CFJOSG), 1 Engineer Support Unit (1 ESU) and the Task Force Engineering Team in each overseas location. The incumbent identifies opportunities for deployment, the minimum job requirements and the necessary training, leads the development and management of all service level arrangements for overseas deployments, and works with DCC’s regions to create and maintain records related to employees scheduled to be deployed. When required, the incumbent deploys on short notice to fill capacity gaps (one to six weeks) and for meetings, quality assurance activities and site visits.
Key and Periodic Activities
The duties and responsibilities listed below are representative but not all-inclusive:
Primary
- Manage, track and report on all overseas programs, including those for CJOC, CFJOSG and 1 ESU
- Manage and review list of deployed employees and track all pre-deployment activities
- Participate in procurement planning and assist with statement of work reviews and discussions related to deployed operations
- Review threat and risk levels for deployment locations
- Coordinate DCC, DND and CAF training and related requirements for all deployed staff
- Coordinate pre- and post-deployment medical screenings, insurance, assignment letters and related documents with Human Resources
- Coordinate with DND Honours and Recognition to have DCC deployed staff recognized for their support overseas
- Prepare briefings and weekly reports for the Senior Management Group
- Support Client-Partners’ industrial security requirements for overseas locations
- Coordinate and lead all weekly update teleconferences with deployed staff
- Offer support outside of standard business hours to coordinate urgent matters with deployed staff
- Collaborate with deployed individuals’ team leader and site manager (from their substantive position) to carry out all business management tasks (e.g. time entry, expense claims, determining start and end dates for temporary assignments, performance evaluations)
- Perform human resources functions for deployed staff (e.g. coach, supervise, mentor, plan and allocate resources, and manage performance)

Formal Education and/or Certification(s) and Experience
- Minimum: university degree in engineering, architecture or related field with six years’ relevant experience, or the equivalent
