Hybrid Cafeteria Monitor en Accomack County Public Schools

Job Title:  Cafeteria Monitor

Rate of Pay:  $15.00 hourly

Part Time:  Up to 16 hours weekly

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Job Summary

Responsible for monitoring student behavior during meal service. Assists with the

cleanliness of the cafeteria, assists with recycling, and assists with the flow of meal service.  Work is performed under the general supervision of the principal.

Essential Duties

• Manages students during meal service (behavior problems will be referred to the teacher or principal according to guidelines established by the individual school site).
• Communicates with students and school staff in a positive and professional manner utilizing appropriate customer service and interpersonal skills.
• Circulate throughout the cafeteria or in areas where meals are served and/or eaten assisting students who need assistance.
• Assists with the cleanliness of the cafeteria
• Dismisses classes in an orderly manner at the scheduled time.
• Encourages good table manners.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Must possess the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, parents, and the public.

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements

Must have the ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time; exhibit manual dexterity to dial a telephone, to enter data into a computer; to see and read a computer screen and printed material with or without vision aids; hear and understand speech at normal classroom levels, outdoors and on the telephone; speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly in normal classrooms, outdoors, and on the telephone; physical agility to lift up to 25 pounds; and to bend, stoop, sit on the floor, climb stairs, walk and reach overhead.
