Job Overview: The Heavy Equipment Mechanic is a vital member of the Minot Maintenance and Repair team within RMG. This is a position for an experienced Heavy Equipment Mechanic.
The Mechanic’s primary responsibility is the maintenance and repair of chassis, lift equipment, terminal trucks, and containers in order to keep the facility in working order. Maintenance and repair are fast paced and requires individuals to effectively communicate when working with heavy machinery. The Mechanic must maintain a safe yet efficient mindset when maintaining facility equipment to best assist and support with the successful onward movement of customer cargoes.
This position has exposure to agricultural product such as wheat and soybean.
Key Job Duties:
- Execute work instructions and communicate progress over the radio or on a tablet
- Assess, document, and fix equipment in the following categories
- Perform maintenance on chassis, lift equipment, terminal trucks, and containers
- Perform maintenance on electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical systems
- Readily dispatch to operationally critical damaged equipment in the yard with the goal of quickly bringing the machine back to safe working condition
- Perform other duties assigned by leadership
Requirements
- Highschool diploma or equivalent preferred
- Minimum 1 year experience in heavy equipment repairs, diesel engines, electrical motors, chassis and trailer repair, parts inventory, work orders
- Organizational skills
- Effective communication
- Time management
- Experience with Microsoft office products, terminal operating systems, SharePoint or google drive
- Experience with Microsoft office tools, reporting, and terminal operating systems
- Experience on CMMS highly desired
- Ability to lift over 50 lbs
- Ability to work in all weather conditions
- Ability to push and pull up to 80 pounds occasionally
- Ability to ascend and descend ladders
