Are you passionate about creating inclusive spaces where all children can thrive? At the YMCA, you’ll play a vital role in supporting children with diverse abilities, ensuring every child feels valued, supported, and empowered to grow.


POSITION SUMMARY:

The Inclusion Specialist supports children with diverse abilities and needs within the YMCA child care program, ensuring that every child receives individualized care in an inclusive and welcoming environment. The Inclusion Specialist will partner closely with teaching staff and families to provide an individualized approach that is tailored to meet the child’s needs.


Pay:

$21.00 - $28.00 per hour

Hours:

Monday - Friday, 8:00a - 2:00p (With some occasional evening hours)


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Developed individualized inclusion plans for children and provide resources to staff to ensure effective implementation and support. Monitor child progress and adapt the plan when necessary. 
  • Collaborate with staff to create activities and environments that are inclusive and welcoming for children of all abilities.  
  • Act as a resource and advocate for children, parents and staff, actively promoting an inclusive approach within the program.  
  • Provide staff with a variety of accommodation and modifications to curriculum, lessons and learning that support the needs of every child.  
  • Collaborate with the child care director, parents and staff to create individualized behavior guidance/action plans. 
  • Serve as a liaison between parents and program staff to ensure the YMCA child care is fostering a safe, fun and high-quality environment for all children. 
  • Maintain respectful, proactive, and professional communication with families and external professionals. 
  • Actively participate in IEP, IFSP, ISP, Behavior Guidance/Action Plans. 
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.  


Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in education or special education preferred.   
  • Three or more years of experience in the early childhood career field preferred. 
  • Experience with children with diverse needs 
  • Knowledge of inclusion practices 
  • Communication skills 
  • Training and experience in data collection, Conscious Discipline, Teacher-Child Interaction Therapy (TCIT), mental health practices, child development, and/or Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) are preferred. 
  • Must complete and have a non-disqualified background study record.  
  • Must be certified in CPR and First Aid with Bloodborne Pathogens or obtain within the first 90 days of employment.
