Your Role at MediaLab
As a Shooter/Editor, you will play a key role in supporting and improving Genius’ original content operation. Your initial focus will be on filming, and editing our original videos. You will work to enhance efficiency, creativity and cross-team collaboration, ensuring alignment with our overall content goals. Additionally, you will provide support for our Senior Manager of Original Video, as well as collaborate with our branded content team as needed to achieve success in this role.
What You’ll Do
Report to our Sr. Manager, Original Video.
Set up and break down camera, lighting, and audio equipment for Genius shoots.
Collaborate with producers and team members to film content in line with brand guidelines.
Handle on-set DIT duties, including media wrangling, data transfer, and file backups to ensure footage is secure and organized.
Record high-quality audio on set.
Capture high-quality photographs on set for use in video thumbnails and other promotional materials.
Incorporate producer feedback and turn around edit revisions quickly.
Create social cutdowns and vertical video assets for IG, TikTok, YouTube Shorts, and other platforms.
Color grade footage to ensure a polished, consistent look across all content.
Adhere to due dates and timelines on our production calendar.
Work on branded productions and sponsored episodes on an as-needed basis.
Manage and organize media assets, project files, and backups throughout post-production.
What We’re Searching For
3+ years of professional shooting and editing experience in music-focused media.
Experience working directly with artists and on-camera talent.
A deep passion and knowledge of music, especially Hip-Hop, Pop, R&B, and/or Latin music.
Strong editorial judgment and understanding of storytelling in music culture.
Strong technical skills with professional cameras (Sony, Canon, Blackmagic, etc.), audio capture, and lighting setups.
Expertise in Adobe Premiere Pro; working knowledge of After Effects, Photoshop, and DaVinci Resolve.
Ability to juggle multiple productions or projects with tight, competing deadlines.
Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
Bachelor’s degree in Film, Media, Communications, or a related field preferred, but not required.
Fluency in Spanish is a plus.
