AIR6500 is the RAAF’s $3 billion program to develop a joint air battle management system that builds on the capabilities offered by Next Generation sensor and command and control systems. AIR6500 will create a fully networked ‘system of systems’ that synchronises air and missile defence operations in joint and coalition environments, maximising situational awareness and enhancing the speed of decision making across the battlespace.

 

About you:

As a Seasoned Chief Engineer with a proven track record leading large-scale international defence programs (>$500M), you will be a recognised domain expert in Command & Control (C2), Air Battle Management (ABM), Integrated Air and Missile Defense, and/or Weapon/Combat Systems. You will have extensive hands-on expertise executing a defence program in an Agile fashion, be fully across the engineering lifecycle and also ideally hold a Tertiary qualification (Bachelors degree or above) in a relevant discipline (Engineering) from a recognised institution.

Your responsibilities will include:

The Chief Engineer Director’s primary responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
  • Driving overall cost/schedule/technical program performance across all AIR6500 contracts and proposals
  • Ensuring all risks and opportunities are tracked and technical issues are solutioned
  • Shaping of future requirements
  • Ensuring consistent engineering communications and alignment of schedule to project deliverables
  • Driving all Agile Epics to successful closure; meeting all technical requirements and cyber controls
