Duties
Serves as a Training Specialist in a store with an annual sales volume of less than $100M and coordinates the execution of local needs-based training for all Marine Corps Exchange team members. Ensures all MCX team members receive timely training in service, systems and store processes as well as guidance for personal and professional development within their designed career path. Plays an integral role in training employees individual or in small groups using the defined corporate training strategy and materials associated with it. Partners with store leadership to ensure continuity and availability of required training and development opportunities. Assumes the role of a team captain with a drive for team-centric activities, promotions, awards, incentives and other organizational projects. Reports to the Director of Retail, Store Manager, or Operations Manager. Proactively identifies opportunities to resolve customer problems and concerns. Follows up with customers to ensure their problems were resolved. Communicates any outstanding problem resolution issues with the Experience Manager. Understands and articulates all MCX value stories, programs and promotions. Recognizes the core values and mission of the Marine Corps Exchange (MCX). Remains up to date on all retail systems training. Provides technical training support on all retail systems on a one on one or small group basis. Actively uses and promotes organizational use of MCX Intranet and learning management system. Actively communicates new training requirements to the appropriate learner group and supervisor. Ensures training is provided for tasks received from the task management system. Ensures all training enrollment and certificate data is forwarded to the appropriate individual for inclusion within the team member¿s training record. Provides input and feedback to Corporate Training Manager for materials development and requests new training support for topics that are identified as a training need. Plans and executes all corporate training program initiatives. Works with team members to schedule training needs and requirements. Works with team members to develop IDPs for those seeking advancement. May lead individual and small group training. Coordinates the MCX New Employee Orientation and onboarding program. Actively engages in organizational training opportunities that develop personal and professional skills related to: time management, emotional intelligence, interpersonal skills, career planning, public speaking and small group leadership. May coordinate and perform a wide variety of responsible administrative functions in support of the Retail Director branch and other senior-level business operations and/or retail store management functions. Stays abreast of any changes and advises staff on development and implementation of local administrative directives and procedures. May organize flow of operational processes in an office environment. Can establish status of actions on numerous projects and operational programs. Can ensure compliance by managers and supervisors by reviewing and revising studies, reports, correspondence for accuracy and format. Can collect, compile and organize information and data to meet automating reports and correspondence. Uses a personal computer to transmit correspondence, create reports, databases, spreadsheets, graphics, slide show and presentation. Can manipulate data to meet presentation and report requirements. May perform support functions such as gathering data; making arrangements for special events; preparing and conducting briefs, presentations and training sessions, monitoring and distributing paperwork. Provides World Class Customer Service with an emphasis on courtesy. Delivers a Dress Blue Experience to all customers throughout the store. Smiles and greets all customers within 30 seconds of approaching in all areas of the store. Assists customers and communicates positively in a friendly manner. Takes action to solve problems quickly. Alerts the higher-level supervisor, or proper point of contact for help when problems arise. Adheres to safety regulations and standards. Promptly reports any observed workplace hazards, and any injury, occupational illness, and/or property damage resulting from workplace mishaps to the immediate supervisor. Adheres to established standards of actively supporting the principles of the EEO program and prevention of sexual harassment. May require food handling safety training, handling and certification. May require training and handling of Western Union and other customer services offered. May require light custodial duties, light lifting of merchandise, stocking, setting planograms, price changes, inventory counts and corrections. Performs other duties as assigned. This is a white-collar position where occasional lifting up to 20 lbs. may be required.

BACHELOR¿S DEGREE from an accredited college or university in a related field appropriate to work of the position, OR an appropriate combination of education and experience that demonstrates possession of knowledge and skill equivalent to that gained in the above, OR THREE YEARS of practical experience that demonstrates that the applicant has acquired the knowledge, skills, and abilities equivalent to that gained in the above. Experience working within a human resources and training environment required, preferably within a retail or business operations organization. Demonstrated experience and success leading and coordinating training activities. Positive attitude with a genuine desire to work in a team environment. Advanced adult learning and training facilitation skills. Ability to train operating standards and procedures for service, service recovery, sales, technical systems and store brand as well as work within the position to execute these standards properly and coach others within the team to do so with a high degree of skill and confidence. Ability to work in a high performance atmosphere with commitment to service and sales goals. Experience in performing administrative duties for upper-level management positions in a large customer-oriented organization that demonstrates knowledge of administrative management and ability to apply this knowledge in various work operations. Attention to detail is required.
