JOB DESCRIPTION
POSITION: Recycling Coordinator
LOCATION: Red Cliff Transfer Station
WAGE: $15.00/hour, 40 hours per week
SUPERVISOR: Environmental Director
THIS IS A REGULAR FULL-TIME, NON-EXEMPT POSITION
JOB SUMMARY: Perform all necessary activities to coordinate and manage the Recycling Program at the Red Cliff Transfer Station for the Red Cliff Tribe.
Position Duties
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Primary responsibilities include:
- Management of recycling operations and watches flow of recycled materials at the transfer station during normal business hours.
- Answers questions and promotes compliance with the recycling program to tribal employees and users of the facility.
- Develop outreach and conduct community education regarding recycling and reuse efforts to reduce landfill waste.
- Assist in facilitating community events, like Earth Day and Spring Clean Up.
- Collect, sort, and organize for transfer of recyclables, e-waste, tires, and metal goods.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and presentable working environment.
- Assist in the procurement of the Reuse Center and establishment of SOPs for intake of items and sales.
- Record items that are recycled and sold, in accordance with the EPA-approved Quality Assurance Project Plan under SWIFR Grant.
- Must achieve and maintain proper safety training (fork lift certification, HAZWOPER, etc.)

Minimum Qualifications
KNOWLEDGE: Basic understanding of recycling policies, procedures, and recycling. Basic knowledge of issues related to pollution and its’ effects on human and environmental health. Basic knowledge of sustainability as it relates to environmental practices. Ability to understand and follow safety procedures. Knowledge of light equipment operation and/or maintenance.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Good communication skills, both oral and written.
- Must have excellent computer and organizational skills as well as ability to work alone and/or with a diverse group of people.
- Must be able to bend and lift at least 50 pounds.
- Must have a valid driver’s license, vehicle and appropriate vehicle coverage and maintain driver’s eligibility as a condition of employment.

PERSONAL CONTACTS: Treaty Natural Resources Staff, Tribal Administration and Tribal Community Members.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Be able to walk through uneven terrain in various weather conditions. Must be able to bend and lift at least 50 pounds. The duties assigned to this position involve bending, stooping, lifting, and carrying.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: Office and outdoor setting with hours outside the normal 8am to 5pm hours for on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays (8am-12pm). All Tribal Buildings are smoke free.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: May be required to travel to and from various project sites. As needed, attend Tribal Council meetings and/or Treaty Natural Resource Division meetings as directed by supervisor.
