Compensation:

New hires start between $37.95 and $50.60 based on experience, qualifications, skills, competencies, internal equity, and market factors. While the full pay range is listed for this position for pay transparency, individual compensation is determined by various factors and may vary within the posted range.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

The RN is responsible for providing quality health care services to all clients including assessing somatic conditions, assessing medical needs, communicating with team members to determine appropriate treatment protocol and course, and creating a favorable group climate for the effective treatment of each enrolled client. 

This position supports the Behavioral Health Division of Pioneer Human Services by performing clinical tasks to support the provision of quality and cost effective medical services to behavioral health clients.

 

PRIMARY/ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Service Delivery:

  • Assists with client interventions.
  • Aids in the client's biopsychosocial educational processes including conducting health education classes and teaching individual clients health related issues such as self-administration of medications, prevention of infectious diseases, nutrition, nicotine.
  • Assists clients in meeting health and safety needs in accordance with each individual's stage of recovery and program policies.
  • Assigns, performs and monitors resident vital signs following policy or as clinically warranted.
  • Assesses, reports, and addresses client concerns regarding physical and psychological needs.
  • Documents observations of behaviors, physical signs and symptoms and psychological needs, medication delivery, ongoing health assessment needs and treatment progress and pertinent health and safety issues according to program policy.
  • Participates in other areas of treatment plan implementation as directed.
  • Collects lab specimens and blood draws if necessary.
  • Completes TB testing.
  • Conducts basic medical screens, including blood pressure, cholesterol, etc. and monitors and documents symptoms
  • As warranted, assists in or facilitates Urine Drug Screens.
  • Provides aseptic wound care.
  • Follows orders of psychiatric prescriber in accordance with program policy.
  • Provides a safe and healthy environment, which includes maintaining, cleaning, and disposal of equipment and supplies according to policy and procedures.
     

Administrative Duties/Service Planning:

  • Attendance at staff meetings and active participation in planning, coordination and communication of all types, which will contribute to the delivery of quality professional services.
  • Interprets and explains program policy to each client as needed.
  • Integrates knowledge by thinking through and planning the most professional, therapeutic reaction or intervention in any given client care situation.
  • Provides written documentation of observations as input to the client's Individual Service Plan and review process.
  • Monitors and assists with management of inventory restocks supplies and orders and purchases supplies as directed.
  • Assists/Submits Monthly QA reports, UA/BA, Psych and Medical, Medication Review, as required.
  • Maintains clinical record in accordance with Washington State law and policy.

 

Team collaboration:

  • Participates in daily team staffing meetings.
  • Conducts staff training for orientation and technical skills, as needed.
  • Provides pertinent verbal and written shift reports and communication with interdisciplinary team members.
  • Develops and implements Nursing Treatment/Care Planning utilizing team approach and including input from team members and clients.
  • Meets with other program staff, consultants, volunteers, and attends other meetings as directed.
  • Participates in treatment team trainings, as required.

Performs other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

This position may require the ability to provide emergency client care.

Demonstrate competency, good judgment, and self-control in the presence of clients and when performing duties. Have the skills and ability to work successfully with the special needs of the clients in our care and have effective communication and problem-solving skills with clients, internal staff, and providers in the community.

Duties require the use of standard office furniture and equipment (e.g., desk, filing cabinet, laptop computer, printer, telephone, cellular phone, fax machine, copy machine, etc.)  Ability to use MS Office and other work related software. 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:
REQUIRED

  • Registered Nurse in Washington and have a current Washington State RN license in good standing. 
  • Minimum of 2 years registered nursing experience.
  • Must have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must have the ability to effectively communicate with and work with outside agencies.

 

PREFERRED/DESIRABLE

  • BSN
  • Mental health & chemical dependency experience.
  • Experience with electronic charting. 
  • Knowledge of local resources and services for individuals who are homeless or low-income and those experiences chronic behavioral health challenges or having histories of involvement in legal system(s)
  • Mental Health Professional per WAC 246-341-0515.
  • Experience in the direct treatment of persons who have a mental illness or who are emotionally disturbed, such experience gained under the supervision of a mental health professional per RCW 71.34.020.

 

Must be able to provide the following documents prior to hire:

  • Resume indicating experience in the direct treatment of persons who have a mental illness or who are emotionally disturbed, such experienced gained under the supervision of a mental health professional
  • Name and Licensure number of Mental Health Professional whom received direct supervision under
  • Transcripts, diploma and resume representing educational requirements
