About the Department
The City of Rancho Cucamonga is looking for a bold, creative marketing professional to join our Community Affairs Network (CAN) as the new Community Affairs Coordinator for the Lewis Family Playhouse at the Victoria Gardens Cultural Center (VGCC). From season brochures and press releases to paid media strategy and social storytelling, you'll be at the helm of how our patrons discover, experience, and fall in love with the Playhouse. About the Lewis Family Playhouse at Victoria Gardens Cultural Center:
The Lewis Family Playhouse is an intimate, state-of-the-art performing arts center with 560 seats, owned and operated by the City of Rancho Cucamonga. As a major anchor to the Victoria Gardens Lifestyle Shopping Center, the Playhouse entertains, educates, and inspires through high-quality performances for audiences of all ages and backgrounds across Southern California. In addition to the Playhouse, the Cultural Center includes a 60-seat Black Box Theatre, large event spaces, and a brand-new Courtyard stage opening in 2025.Working for the City of Rancho Cucamonga:
Though formally part of the Community Affairs Team and titled Community Affairs Coordinator, this role is primarily focused on supporting the Lewis Family Playhouse and its dynamic lineup of performances, rentals, and community events. You'll be based at the theater and collaborate closely with its internal teams, artists, and partners, while also coordinating with the broader Community Affairs Network to ensure alignment in messaging, brand consistency, and community engagement strategies.

You'll be responsible for...
Campaign Strategy & Execution
- Creating long-range and annual marketing plans that align with season goals, show schedules, and revenue targets.
- Executing multifaceted campaigns using print, digital, email, and social media.
- Aligning messaging across platforms to ensure cohesive, on-brand storytelling.
Audience Development
- Identifying and targeting audience segments for specific productions, events, and community programs.
- Supporting strategies that attract new and underrepresented patrons, while deepening engagement with existing ones.
- Collaborating on outreach strategies that reflect the City’s commitment to inclusion, access, and community service.
Content Creation & Social Media
- Overseeing the development of marketing materials like, season brochures, playbills, posters, and press releases.
- Creating consistent, engaging content across all social media platforms, email channels, and website.
- Working with internal staff and external creatives to develop promotional videos, photos, and stories that capture the spirit of the Lewis Family Playhouse.
Relationship Management & Cross-Departmental Communication
- Serving as the primary marketing contact for artists, agents, publicists, community organizations and production/artistic partners to align on campaign strategy, gathering promotional assets, and ensuring timelines are met.
- Acting as a liaison between the Playhouse and the broader community, cultivating relationships with local businesses, potential sponsors, and event organizers to increase visibility and deepen community ties.
- Maintaining clear and organized records of deliverables, deadlines, vendor/creative agreements, and contacts to ensure nothing falls through the cracks.
Analytics & Reporting
- Providing data-informed recommendations to optimize audience reach and campaign effectiveness.
- Tracking and analyzing key performance indicators such as ticket sales, audience engagement, and overall campaign impact.
- Providing campaign wrap-ups and using data to refine future strategy.
- Monitoring marketing budget and maintaining accurate records for reporting.
Brand Management & Public Relations
- Protecting and promoting the visual and written brand identity of the venue and the City.
- Collaborating with the City’s Community Affairs Officer and the Community Affairs Network on outreach and media coverage.

Definition
Under general supervision, coordinates and performs a variety of graphic layout and design assignments for various marketing programs, publications, and handouts; coordinates projects with program and production staff, box office personnel, advertisers, and Community Services management personnel; and perform other related duties as assigned.
Essential Functions

Coordinates and creates graphical layouts and design materials for programs, publications, and handouts.
Works with graphic designers, advertisers, and departmental staff to clarify themes, ideas, and audiences associated with performances, events, and groups that are served.
Coordinates and prepares season brochures, Playbills, Friends of the Playhouse, and Theater Arts Academy production schedules and advertising materials.
Designs graphics illustrations, logos, and insets and writes accompanying text for post cards, posters, and informational handouts.
Writes press releases and community outreach and public education announcements.
Designs rental brochures, fund development materials, teacher resource materials, and related pieces.
Assists with the preparation of marketing reports to assess the effectiveness of campaigns, promotions, advertisements, and levels of attendance.
Coordinates sponsorship and community services membership functions, including press conferences, special tours, and community presentations.

Minimum Qualifications
Education and/or Experience
Equivalent to Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, or a related field and three years of responsible graphic design, marketing, and advertising experience.
Substitution: A total of four years of professional-level experience in marketing, communications , or related field and three years of responsible graphic design, marketing, and advertising experiences may substitute for the Bachelor’s degree requirement.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Graphic design methods; illustration techniques; advertising practices; marketing promotion and communications practices;
Operate modern office equipment including computer hardware and specialized desktop publishing and graphics programs; research, evaluate, and present marketing ideas and themes; write text for marketing materials; coordinate advertising and public education campaigns; use discretion and exercise sound judgment; work independently; meet project deadlines; establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work including customers, community groups, supervision, management, and the general public; and communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.

Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid Class C or Class 3 California Driver's License and have a satisfactory driving record.
