JOB SUMMARY

Reporting directly to the Human Health Manager, the BioSkills Lab Technician will maintain responsibilities related to BioSkills human cadaver labs and general duties; logistical and operational functions relating to BioSkills lab events held within the Oquendo Center; and general upkeep and cleanliness of all facility areas, equipment, and instrumentation related to clinical activities. Compliance with organizational standards, policies and procedures is mandatory. This position will interact with a wide variety of medical clients as well as general meetings and events clients in an array of professions. This position requires the ability to work a schedule in accordance with business needs. Scheduled hours can include working up to forty (40) hours per week, possible overtime, and weekends and holidays.  


EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE SKILLS & ABILITIES

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.
  • Certification in Medical Laboratory Technology or related field is a plus.

General Requirements:

  • Effective communicator with strong verbal and written skills, understanding of audience, and participation in meetings.

Technical Skills:

  • Experience with medical procedures and labs.
  • Experience with setting up and breaking down lab rooms and equipment needed for procedures.
  • Ability to provide assistance during labs.
  • Knowledge of sanitization rules and OSHA requirements.
  • General knowledge of safety rules and regulations.
  • Familiarity with the policies and procedures of the Oquendo Center.

Operational Skills:

  • Ability to assist clients as needed, ensuring safety.
  • Strong organizational skills to ensure effective tracking of client calendar, instruments, and needs.
  • Stocking and maintaining medical supplies and PPE.
  • Preparing shipping and receiving lab materials for the Oquendo Center clientele.
  • Maintaining inventory supplies and ensuring equipment remains in working order.

Additional Requirements:

  • Must be willing to get a Commercial Driver License (CDL) if needed and meet those requirements.
  • Must have a safe driving record and a valid Nevada driver license.
  • Ability to pass a physical and drug test for DOT compliance if required.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and travel for business needs as necessary.
  • Flexibility to change schedule and workload based on departmental needs.
  • Continuous focus on quality improvement and enhanced techniques.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule and attend all assigned labs.

JOB SPECIFIC DUTIES

COMPLIANCE & SAFETY:

  • Ensure compliance with policies and procedures, reporting any violations and/or safety hazards.
  • Clean and sterilize medical and non-medical equipment, lab rooms, and supplies.
  • Maintain a high standard of cleanliness throughout the facility.
  • Ensure awareness and knowledge of standard operating procedures and safety policies.

LAB OPERATIONS:

  • Set up and break down all rooms scheduled for events.
  • Stock and maintain medical supplies and PPE.
  • Prepare shipping and receiving of lab materials.
  • Maintain inventory supplies and manage shipping and receiving.
  • Maintain lab equipment and instruments, reporting deficiencies and removing them from use.
  • Assist clients in the lab as needed.
  • Set out instruments for the lab and ensure lab stations are stocked, instruments are cleaned, and rooms are sanitized.

CLIENT INTERACTION:

  • Assist clients with scheduling pick up of packages.
  • Assist AV Technician with filming in labs and AV breakdown if needed.
  • Maintain positive working relationships with clients and team members.
  • Greet clients with a smile and demonstrate a professional and courteous demeanor.
  • Perform other job duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
