Job Description

Salary:

$3,742.67 - $7,083.33 per month commensurate with experience.

Job Description Summary:

The Laboratory Coordinator IV, under general direction, coordinates daily laboratory activities, operations, instructional programs and maintenance. Supervises the set-up, installation and procurement of laboratory 
equipment and supplies for laboratory exercises and experiments; evaluates existing laboratory facilities and recommends improvements; assists in the development and testing of new experiments and curricula; collects, processes and disposes of laboratory waste; oversees the maintenance of laboratory facilities, equipment and instrumentation and arranges for repairs as needed; coordinates equipment, furnishing and supply needs; develops procedures for the use of laboratory instrumentation; coordinates chemical storage, safety labeling and inventory control for equipment under employee's jurisdiction; performs other duties as assigned. 

Responsibilities:

- Prepares various mechanical and electrical/electronic equipment, coordinates its use in graduate, undergraduate and research laboratories.
- Assists in maintenance of lab and machine shop equipment, including repair and modernization of such equipment as 3D printers and virtual welding/machining systems.

- Installs automatic systems for open access laboratories, including automated locker systems and RFID based loss prevention systems.
- Provides faculty and graduate assistants with scientific instrumentation equipment support for student instruction and funded research.
- Utilizes and supports RFID technology during acquisition, deployment, and relocation of inventoried assets.
- Able to read and understand wiring diagrams, able to troubleshoot and maintain various equipment motors and electrical/electronic circuit systems.
- Procures supplies and equipment for laboratories.
- Maintains an inventory of supplies and equipment in support
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

- Bachelor’s degree or any equivalent combination of education and experience.

- Four years of related experience in laboratory operations.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

- Able to work with mechanical and electrical systems to support electronic and electro-mechanical systems.

- Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.

Preferred Qualifications:

- Electronics and electro-mechanical experience
- Experience in laboratory operations
