Summary of Position

The Senior Sales Manager – Leisure is responsible for leading leisure travel sales and driving the strategic implementation of the hotel's sales initiatives for leisure transient accounts. This role plays a critical part in strengthening the Maybourne Beverly Hills presence within the luxury travel sector. Key responsibilities include developing and executing sales strategies to meet business objectives, increasing market share, and fostering strong relationships with key consortia partners such as Virtuoso, AMEX Fine Hotels & Resorts, Signature Travel Network, Internova, and Serandipians. Additionally, this role will oversee and grow hotel's wholesale partnerships, ensuring alignment with the Maybourne Beverly Hills brand positioning and revenue goals.

Roles and Responsibilities

Client Relationship Management

  • Build and nurture long-term, value-based relationships with guests and prospective clients to support the hotel’s sales objectives.
  • Demonstrate exceptional verbal and written communication skills, along with superior customer service and follow-up practices to foster client loyalty and confidence.
  • Conduct engaging site inspections, host FAM trips, and plan effective sales trips to build rapport and drive bookings.

Leisure Segment Sales & Strategy

  • Develop and manage the leisure transient segment by soliciting new and existing travel trade accounts through strategic prospecting, outside sales calls, and written communications.
  • Leverage existing networks and proactively build new partnerships within the travel trade sector, strengthening relationships with key agencies.
  • Collaborate with the Maybourne Global Sales team on all Consortia Leisure partner programs with emphasis on Amex FHR, Virtuoso, Internova. Serandipians and Signature Travel Network
  • Identify and target agencies booking competitors using tools like Hotelligence to strategically shift share to Maybourne.
  • Create and implement a strategic sales plan to manage a portfolio of accounts and exceed revenue goals.

Market Analysis & Revenue Optimization

  • Conduct ongoing market research to monitor trends and provide insights for new sales and marketing strategies.
  • Monitor actual sales and revenue performance against goals, making data-driven adjustments as needed.
  • Possess strong revenue knowledge, including rate loading, rate maximization, reporting, and alignment with hotel revenue strategy.

Industry Engagement & Representation

  • Represent the hotel at key travel industry trade shows, events, and sales missions, collaborating closely with Maybourne Hotel Group's global sales teams.
  • Engage with international representation companies to drive demand from targeted geographic leisure markets, including Australia, Asia/Pacific, and Central/South America.

Account Management & Internal Collaboration

  • Orchestrate regular (monthly, quarterly, annual) account reviews and market action plans in collaboration with fellow Directors and Managers to drive production.
  • Actively research and develop B2B opportunities to increase brand awareness, grow total account management, and maximize hotel profitability.
  • Partner with marketing to execute relevant promotions and initiatives that support client education and incentivization.

Leadership & Brand Advocacy

  • Promote and articulate The Maybourne’s brand essence and differentiation across all sales efforts.
  • Demonstrate a strong entrepreneurial mindset, consistently taking initiative to capture business opportunities.
  • Celebrate team successes and ensure regular recognition of contributions across all areas of responsibility.
  • Serve as a brand ambassador, upholding and modeling The Maybourne Hotel Group’s core values.

Administrative & Reporting

  • Provide regular market updates, forecasts, and recommendations to the Director of Revenue Management and Director of Transient Sales
  • Make decisions independently within established policies and budget parameters.
  • Maintain fluency with industry reporting systems and analytics platforms to inform strategy and performance evaluation.

Qualifications

  1. At least 3 years related industry experience – Previous Five Star/Luxury Hotel Sales Experience is essential.
  2. Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent work experience.
  3. Proven strong relationship within the luxury network with key contacts in North America in the Travel Industry sector.
  4. Proficient with Hotelligence and strong knowledge and command of Lanyon is a plus.
  5. Knowledge of transient business including contractual agreements and legal implications.
  6. Ability to use professional sales techniques to negotiate the best possible terms and conditions that satisfy customer (internal and external) requirements.
  7. Creates an atmosphere in which timely information flows smoothly throughout the department; possesses exceptional communications skills.
  8. Experience working within hotel sales operations, managing team members and budgets.
  9. Ability to translate business needs into what needs to be done; ensures that all work is completed effectively; monitors the progress of work against schedules and budgets; maintains high performance standards.
  10. Understands our competition and knows how to sell against them.
  11. Possession of in-depth understanding of global travel in addition to a network of contacts.
  12. Proficient in Microsoft Office and Outlook systems.
  13. Excellent organizational skills and ability to work in dynamic and fast-changing environment. 

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Prolonged periods of walking around and standing.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
