Position Summary
Georgia DNR is undertaking a landscape level project to restore native groundcover in coastal Georgia utilizing local ecotype seeds. To achieve this GA DNR has developed a native groundcover seed production nursery at Altama Plantation Wildlife Management Area near Brunswick GA. In this nursery GA DNR is focused on growing over 50 native groundcover species from seed collected from reference site in the regions. These species will be grown on in production style rows and from these rows seed will be harvested. These seeds will then be distributed onto sites identified that have low diversity groundcover.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
Help run the native groundcover seed production nursery at Altama Plantation WMA;
Propagation of native plants into the production rows and general maintenance of the rows through mowing, weeding, and herbicide;
Conduct seed collections across the nursery, catalog and properly store seeds;
Help evaluate, prioritize, and distribute seed mix on restoration sites;
Marginal Duties
Assist with other land management activities including prescribed fire (training provided) and invasive species control.
Required Qualifications
BS in Natural Resources, Biology, Horticulture or related field. Ability to drive a tractor, UTV, 4x4 truck. Some experience in the natural resources field. Good plant identification skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working in a nursery or doing plant propagation.

40 per week
Living Accommodations
If needed we can provide housing on site at Altama Plantation WMA; Shared single gender rooms with ensuite bathroom; Shared kitchen and laundry facilities on site
Compensation
$600/ week
All allowances are subject to applicable federal, state, and local taxes.
