Job Responsibilities
- Direct supervision of the following positions: 7 Academic Advisors
- 1 Assistant Director of Student Engagement
- 1 Part-time Assistant Director of Student Academic Success
- 1 Senior Staff Assistant, Student Services
- Serve as CET Dean’s Delegate for Advising
- Communicate, lead efforts and oversee advising and retention initiatives for the College
- Serve on committees related to student success and retention
- Coordinate College academic advising needs, develop and manage advising models.
- Provide student problem resolution guidance and policy interpretation
- Manage effective advisor assignments and loads to support the students
- Develop and enable effective partnerships between department chairs, curriculum committees and advisors
- Analyze and present College data such as Starfish alerts, retention and graduation rates to leadership, including a plan and actions needed to improve the rates.
- Provide student-centered academic policy, process and problem resolution for the College - interpretation, explanation, and exceptions (probation/suspension, withdrawal, residency, registration issues, transfer credit, ADA, etc.) Act as College liaison to units such as the Registrar and University Advising Office to resolve problems
- Serve as a non-voting member of the CET Awards and Academics Integrity committee.
- Develop effective processes for scholarship and emergency fund disbursements
- Policy and Problem Resolution - Serve as Dean’s designee and initial contact to address student problems – including problem triage, investigation, and policy/process explanations, providing mediation, resolution, or referral. Provide guidance and next steps referrals/recommendations for issues such as academic integrity, academic appeals, student disciplinary hearings, Title IX, etc.,.
- Guide leadership, faculty, advisors and departments through policy and processes related to students.
- Strong ability to communicate effectively with all constituents including parents
- Provide leadership for student success and student engagement initiatives, including, but not limited to overseeing Peer Mentorship programs, Student Advisory Board, Women in Technology, CET C.A.R.E.S. and New Student Orientation
- Drive collaborative initiatives to help CET to attain persistence and 6-year graduate goals
- Plan, coordinate, and execute retention, and graduation related events (program fairs, open houses, commencement etc.)
- As Honors Program and study abroad delegate for the college, coordinate honors and study abroad program/curricular offerings in collaboration with advisors, faculty, and department chairs
