The Role
To carry out work-based reviews for The City of Liverpool College apprentices across a range of employers. Performing the necessary duties expected of a work-based reviewer following identified processes and procedures. It is the responsibility of the work-based reviewer, to ensure audit compliance is maintained throughout all areas of their work.
The College needs to have a reputation for consistently delivering and maintaining best-practice performance standards in all its teaching, learning and assessment provision, with success of students in personal, social & employability skills being its primary goal.
Key Responsibilities
1. Manage the assessment and progress of apprentices with an allocated caseload.
2. To keep and maintain records as necessary for the tracking of student attendance, assessment, and achievement and for the purposes of external validation and moderation as required by the awarding body.
3. Ensure that students comply with the correct recording procedures, monitor, and report all aspects of student performance.
4. Carry out inductions with new learners to complete skills and role analysis and, in conjunction with the employer, set out delivery plans and development objectives.
5. Liaise with employers to plan, support, and monitor learner progress towards their development objectives.
6. Carry out reviews with learners to review learners' progress both in their coursework and their development of skills in the workplace.
7. Liaise effectively with tutors, assessors, and employers to gather and record accurate information on learner progress and use this to inform effective reviews.
8. Provide appropriate guidance and support to learners through the building of their portfolio and evidence gathering process.
9. Work with students, colleagues, managers, and external organisations to ensure that the full range of student needs are met.
10. Maximise potential growth opportunities within an existing area of work.
11. To contribute fully to the mission and values statement of the College ensuring its effective implementation in all aspects of College life.
12. To contribute to the College and curriculum area strategic objectives and to actively engage in the annual review.
13. To be aware of national developments in the subject area and update knowledge and skills on an annual basis.
14. To encourage a sense of student pride and involvement in their work.
15. Evaluate and improve your own communication skills to maximise effective communication and overcome barriers.
16. Ensure all areas of work comply with identified audit requirements.
17. To liaise with Head of Work Based Learning and curriculum teams in contributing to the administration necessary to support the assessment within the subject area.
18. To attend and contribute fully to team meetings and standardization.
19. Have the ability to work well within a team and equally well individually.
20. Contribute to the delivery of short, customised courses.
21. Undertake staff development and updating activities as required.
22. Actively promote the college's equality and diversity policy.
23. To review own professional development needs and to participate fully in future training and development.
24. To take proactive responsibility for Health & Safety and to carry out Health and Safety checks on apprentices' workplaces to ensure that a safe working environment and safe working practices are maintained at all times.
Generic Duties:
1. Help to ensure through good working practices that the objectives, values and aims of IT Services and equipment and
2. To contribute fully to the mission and values statement of the College Group ensuring its effective implementation in all aspects of college life.
3. To take proactive responsibility for Health & Safety to ensure that a safe working environment and safe working practices are always maintained.
4. To comply with the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR).
5. To support cross college activities as required, such as organizing events or assisting with enrolment.
6. To understand roles and responsibilities around safeguarding all learners and contribute to maintaining a safe learning environment.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
1. Relevant recent occupational experience.
2. Experience of working with apprentices and carrying out progress reviews.
3. Ability to motivate learners and ensure they achieve.
4. Experience of working with employers to plan apprenticeship delivery.
5. Demonstrable commitment to equality of opportunity.
6. Assessors award A1 or equivalent.
7. Self-motivated with an ability to work independently.
8. Excellent motivational skills with an ability to inspire learners and focus on learners' development.
9. Effective organisational skills.
10. Sound knowledge of current best practice.
11. Effective communication and liaison skills.
12. Experience of having worked as part of a team.
13. Level 2 qualification in English and Maths.
Desirable criteria:
- Internal Verifiers Award V1 or equivalent
